On Sunday evening last St. Columba’s got their senior championship campaign underway with a win over Longford Slashers. In the draw for round 2 which took place following this game the Maroon and White brigade were pitted against Carrickedmond. This game will take place this weekend. Please check fixtures for details of time and venue.
Mullinalaghta/Mullahoran Gun Club will hold their annual general meeting in The Hideaway, Cloncovid on this Friday, 24th July at 9.30p.m. All members are requested to attend. Please note that membership and insurance fees are now due.
All Ireland Fleadh
Congratulations to Aoibhinn Lynch, Culleenmore who will participate in the All Ireland Fleadh Ceol which will take place in Sligo in August. Last weekend Aoibhinn competed at the Leinster Fleadh Ceol in Maynooth and gave an outstanding performance playing the button accordion at U12, thus qualifying for the All Ireland Final. Daughter of Daniel and Frances Lynch she achieved first place at the Longford final in May. We wish her well for the future.
Our sympathy is extended to Rose Cunningham, Clooneen on the death of her nephew Finbar Clabby, Renmore, Co. Galway which occurred following an accident in Wellington, New Zealand. We also express our condolences to his parents Vincent and Teresa, siblings Danny, Catherine, Carmel, Paul, Rosanna, Leo and Martha, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncle, aunt-in-law and cousins. Our prayers and thoughts are with them at this sad time. May he rest in peace.
There will be two fun-filled, multi-activity sports camps at Mullinalaghta football pitch this Summer. Camp 1 is for 4-7 year olds and is running from Monday 10th to Friday 14th August each day from 10.30am – 2.30pm. Camp 2 will cater for 8-12 year olds and will be in operation from Monday 17th August – Friday 21th August from 10.00am – 3.00pm. Activities include a variety of sports but also other events such as Balloon Races, Treasure Hunt, Art, Crafts, Bouncy Castle and many more. Cost of either camp is €50 per child with 2nd, 3rd, 4th child only €40. All children will be fully covered by insurance for everything taking place. St. Columba’s G.F.C held their weekly lotto on Wednesday, 15th July. The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 20, 30 with the Jackpot of €8,100 remaining intact. As part of their fundraising activities the local ladies football club are holding a weekly draw based on the bonus ball in the main draw of the national lottery. Sheets are on sale in the local post office or are available from any club member. Match the bonus ball in Saturday night’s main draw and you will earn yourself €20. Lines are just €2.
