We are happy to get all offers of support and our next meeting is on Thursday week at 9p.m. in the Centre and all are welcome. The weekend will include the annual Philip Moran Memorial Tractor Run on Saturday, 11th July and the Main Rally Sunday, 12th July. Flyers & Posters available just call Brian 086 2596656.

As mentioned last week, Streete Parish Park committee have decided not to sell tickets for our raffle on Vintage Day as people get fed up with too many sellers on that day, so instead we have cards being printed at the moment for a raffle to take place on July, 12th with lines at €2 or three for €5 or a full card with 12 lines €20 will be on sale from now until Vintage Day. This year being the All Ireland event we have extra expense and we ask all who can to take a card and sell it between now until Vintage Day to do so. Cards are available from Brian 086 2596656, John, Jimmy Brady, Pat or any member. To make this the weekend it should be we need lines sold, so please try and help, especially our youth.

Wildlife Club

The club will have a team taking part in the County Longford Sporting Clay Shoot in Edgeworthstown on Sunday next 17th May and we wish them good luck. Fifty bird sporting clay shooting practice continues on this Thursday evening in the club grounds at 7.30pm.

Boherquill Ramblers

Green was the dominant colour in Mullaghmeen Forest when the Ramblers walked there on Sunday May 3rd. The beech trees had fresh spring foliage and their trunks were covered in moss, while beneath them there were ferns and wild flowers. There were many white flowers on the large areas of wood sorrel, a profusion of yellow primroses and here and there a purple violet could be found. The bluebells were just beginning to flower in some places, they will be a splendid display in a week or two. A heavy rain shower did not spoil the afternoon for the Ramblers who thoroughly enjoyed the many signs of spring around them. The Ramblers will visit Portlick beside Lough Ree on Sunday May 17th. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm and meet at 2pm at the petrol station on the Athlone road out of Ballymahon. They will then continue on to Portlick for a two-hour walk on roads and woodland paths.

A report on the Ramblers 2015 Walking Festival will be included in next week’s notes. Details of Ramblers activities can be found at
