Adel Coleman will be giving a lecture in the Longford library next Thursday 5th March at 8pm on her findings regarding the dig from the 1960s at the back of the hill, Ardagh.

Our CCE church gate collection takes place on the weekend of the 28th and 29th of March. Proceeds to the running of the Fleadh ceoil which is set to takes place in mostrim on the weekend of May 8th, 9th and 10th. Fleadh entries will be takes in the Pavillion on the Green on Saturday, March 28th from 1pm until 3pm and during the music classes.
Game Tasting Night
Ballinalee/Killoe Game Tasting Night in The Stags Head Ballinalee on Saturday 7th of March 2015 All game on the night has been sourced locally by gun club members and will be cooked by local chef Nigel Mulligan. This is being organised by the gun club to show appreciation to the land owners for the use of their land throughout the hunting season. Food served at 8.30pm Sharp. Admission optional. Streete Parish Park Bingo
On Monday 9th March the proceeds of Bingo at Streete Parish Park will go to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust. This Trust aims to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families repatriating their loved one(s) who have died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances back to Ireland. Bingo starts at 8.30p.m. and your support would be very much appreciated for this worthy cause.

Joe Callaghan Branch C.C.E. will host their monthly session in “The Mostrim Arms” on this Friday night, 6th March. Come along and enjoy a great night of music, song and dance. All musicians welcome. Starts 9.30p.m. Junior session will take place also on Friday night in the Community Centre from 8p.m. – 9p.m.
Local band success
Well done to new local Trad Band called “Reptilian Spuds” who had a great win in “Battle of the Bands” competition in Cavan on Saturday night 28th February. Competition was held in Crover House Hotel, Mountnugent and was packed to the rafters to hear under 18 trad bands compete for a first prize of €400. In addition to winning €400, the winning band get to play a show on main Gig Rig at All Ireland Fleadh in Sligo, and also to play at “Ed Reavy” Trad weekend in Cavan in October. Members of the band are:- Owen Smith, Edgeworthstown, Banjo/tenor guitar. Paddy Farrell, Legan, Banjo/Guitar, Laura Doherty, Dromard, Fiddle/Guitar. Kirsten Smith on Bodhran is also a member but was unable to attend on Saturday night.
Edgeworthstown Traders Association held their A.G.M. The new committee elected are Gerry Lynn, Chairman, Bernard O’Neill, Vice Chairman, Mary Greene, Secretary, Bridget Duffy, Treasurer. Many thanks to all traders that attended. Also a reminder that the membership fee of €100 for 2015 is due.
