The Ramblers 2015 AGM was held in the Cornmill pub in Boherquill on Sunday, February 22nd. Club Chairman Brian Nerney stepped down as Chairman, but accepted the Members’ request to remain involved as Life President. Secretary Nini Murray read last year’s minutes. Deceased members were remembered with a minute’s silence. The Committee and members were thanked for contributions in running the Club in 2014. Maura McLoughlin and Alice Nerney gave the Joint Treasurers’ Report and the election of Officers was as follows: Brian Nerney as Life President of the Ramblers; Patricia Bruton - Chair; Eileen Moreton - Assistant Chair; Nini Murray - Secretary; Frank Higgins - Assistant Secretary; Maura McLoughlin and Alice Nerney - Joint Treasurers; Philip Epps - PRO. This year’s Walking Festival was confirmed for May 8th, 9th and 10th. Thanks due to Frank and Siobhan of the Cornmill for the venue and food.
The Ramblers greatly appreciate the invaluable contribution of Club President Brian Nerney from the foundation of the Club in 2000, throughout the many miles walked since then, in so many diverse places by so many members and guests. The Club could never have been the success it has become without the commitment and generosity of both Brian and Alice Nerney. Members trust that Brian will remain actively involved in his new position and at the heart of future Club activities. The Ramblers will walk in Newcastle Forest near Ballymahon on Sunday March 8th to mark National Tree Week in conjunction with Coillte. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm and meet at the car park beside the bridge in the Forest at 2pm. All are welcome to join the walk. Annual Subscriptions are now due. New members and suggestions for new walks always welcome. Anyone who is interested in the weekend away at the Abbey Court Hotel in Nenagh from Friday March 20th to Sunday March 22nd is asked to contact Patricia Bruton at 087 9812801 immediately.
