Children’s Christmas party

Children’s Christmas party will take place on Sunday next, 21st December in the Pikers Lodge Hotel. Santa will arrive in the village at 4pm. Everyone welcome.


Deepest sympathy is extended to Mary Coyle, (nee Brady) on the death of her husband, Oliver, Freeduff, Kilcogy which occurred on Wednesday, 10th December at the South West acute hospital, Enniskillen. Also sympathy to his sons, Patrick and Marcus, sister Breedge, brothers Luke and Noel and extended family members. His remains were removed from the family home in Drumgore, Loughduff on Friday evening to St Mary’s Church, Carrick, Finea and following funeral mass on Saturday burial took place in adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Fishing competition

Loch Gowna and upper Erne Anglers will host open Christmas pike fishing (boat) competition on Saturday, 27th December. Fishing from 11am to 4pm. More details next week.

Christmas show

St Patrick’s National School Christmas Show will take place this Wednesday night, 17th December at 7pm in St Brigid’s Community Centre. A show not to be missed.


Sympathy is extended to Mrs Ita Madden, Cornamuckla, Loch Gowna on the recent death of her brother, Terry Dolan, Cloncovid. Also sympathy to his nieces, nephew and extended family. May he rest in peace.


Congratulations to Gerry Brady, Loughdavin, Loughduff on his appointment as chairman of Cavan GAA county board.

Death of John McKiernan

There was widespread regret with the news of the death of John McKiernan, Corlesmore, Ballinagh which occurred on Wednesday, 3rd December at Cavan General Hospital in his 91st year. John was a very successful businessman and former post master. He was a religious person and was closely associated with the Lourdes invalid pilgrimage. To his brother Francis, sisters Kathleen, Sr Mary Prinnsias, nieces and nephews, we extend our deepest sympathy. May he rest in peace.
