On Friday, October 17 there will be a table quiz in the Pikers Lodge, Loch Gowna commencing at 8pm. All proceeds will be in aid of ‘Shine the Light’ project for homeless people and Our Lady’s Hospital for sick people, Crumlin and will be split between the two charities. Tables of four cost €10 per person. Patrick Matthews will be the Quiz Master on the night and DJ Quarry will also be in attendance! Gallant 15km Challenge
The 11th Annual Gallant 15km Challenge in aid of St Christopher’s Hospice Cavan will take place on Saturday, October 25. Participants can walk, jog, run or cycle. There are two courses – From Cavan to Cornafeam (15 km) and Ballinagh to Cornafeam (7 km). Congratulations to Cian Murray, Portanure, Loch Gowna on winning first place in the Credit Union talent competition ‘CU Factor’ (singing) and Gowna set dancers. Tara Madden, Cian Murray, Emma Halton, Emma Crotty, Ellie Anna Madden, Caoimhe Madden, Ella O’Reilly and Maya Sheila on achieving 3rd place. This event was held in Granard on Saturday night October 4. Cian will go forward to represent Granard Credit Union in the regional finals on Saturday, October 18 in Ballinasloe. We wish him success.
Gowna Ladies Football Club would like to thank everyone in the community and surrounding areas who contributed to the Clothes Collection hels recently. It was a great success.
Mullahoran Apostolic Society
Mullahoran Apostolic Society will hold their annual sale of work on Sunday next October 19 in Mullahoran Parochial Hall, commencing at 6.30 pm. Donations for raffles will be greatly accepted.
Congratulations are extended to Arva Football team on winning the Hotel Kilmore Junior Championship Final on Sunday, October 5 in Breffn Park, defeating Ballymachugh. Also congratulations to their manager Ciaran Brady. We wish them the best of luck when they represent Cavan in Ulster on November 2.
The death occurred recently of Mary Brady formerly of Grousehall Lodge and Glasnevin, Dublin. To her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and members of her extended family we extend our deepest sympathy.
The table quiz in aid of Loch Gowna Church of Ireland Restoration Fund that was to take place on Friday, October 24 will not take place until Friday, November 21. More details at a later date.
Circuit training takes place every Thursday night in St Brigid’s Community Centre from 8-9 pm. Everyone is welcome to come.
There was no winner in this week’s lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were: 5, 15, 24 and 25.
