Mostrim & District Vintage Club

Mostrim & District Vintage Club are holding their presentation night on Saturday, next October 18 in The Mostrim Arms at 9.30pm. Money raised from the vintage tractor run on August 3 will be presented to Mostrim Ladies, Diabetes Research & Education and Longford Hospice. There will be music on the night and an auction and raffle will also be held.

Mostrim GAA

There was no jackpot winner in the last Lotto draw. Numbers drawn were 11, 13, 14, 24. €25 winners were Michelle Lynn, Michelle Burke, Jack Kennedy and Sean Nolan.

Monster Bingo

A Monster Bingo at which €4,000 must be won takes place this Sunday, October 19 at 3pm in Streete Parish Park Hall. Proceeds in aid Granard Motte Visitor Centre Project.

Health Food

Health Food Made Easy Course in Cloverwell, Edgeworthstown: This is a six session course, with all sessions having a practical cookery element. The programme is peer led by trained Food and Health instructors from the Food and Health Project. Groups are encouraged to gain hands-on experience of preparing and cooking basic health, good value tasty dishes. Groups also learn about the food pyramid and discuss balance in their diet, fats, fibre, shopping tips etc. A community Dietician meets with the groups on session 5 to answer any extra question that may arise during the course.

There are currently 17 people attending the first courses. Places are available on the second course which is booked to commence at the Community House, 43 Cloverwell, Edgeworthstown on Thursday, November 6 from 10am to 12.30pm. Children’s Voices

St Mel’s Cathedral is delighted to announce a new initiative called ‘Cantate’. The Latin word meaning ‘Sing’, ‘Cantate’ brings together two new ventures; a School’s Singing Programme and a Young Chorister Programme. Currently, we would like to invite boys and girls in Third, Fourth and Fifth Class to get involved. Sean Nós Dancing

Sean Nós dancing classes for children will resume this Friday in The Mostrim Arms from 8.30 until 9.30. Beginners and improvers welcome. Fee is €5. New members welcome.

Scór na nÓg

Scór na nÓg competition takes place on Sunday, October, 30 at 3pm in Lanesboro Parish Hall. The Question time will be held at a later date.
