Boherquill Ramblers

Evidence of the change in the seasons was all around the Ramblers during their walk in Newcastle Forest on Sunday, October 5. There is a large variety of trees in the Wood, and while the pines don’t change much during the year, the oak, ash and beech trees were taking on their autumn colours and laying down a carpet of fallen leaves on the ground. The abundance of fallen beech nuts was particularly noticeable.

The Ramblers will travel by car to the Lough Allen Hotel in Drumshanbo for their weekend away from October 17 - 19. The suggested arrival time at the hotel is about 8pm. Anyone without transport should contact Patricia Bruton at 087 9812801.

Details of the Ramblers’ activities and notices of future walks can be found on the Ramblers website at
