A week of success

Scoil Bhride, Glen has just had a very successful week. In School Scór, Glen had brilliant success winning the Group Instrumental, Solo Instrumental, Solo Singing and Ballad Group’O Keefe’s Slide’ was played beautifully by the Instrumental group of Ciaran Mulligan, Claire Beirne, Donal Mulligan, Kayana Greene, Haidee Temple, Nikkala Clyne, Freddie Greene and Selena Greene. The ballad group of Siobhan Kilduff, Freddie Greene, Kayanna Greene, Haidee Temple, Niamh Gogan, Selena Greene and Nikkala Clyne enthralled the audience with their rendition of ‘Red is The Rose’. Ciaran Mulligan had all feet tapping with a reel he played for the solo instrumental and Freddie Greene beat off stiff opposition with a powerful rendition of ‘Carrickfergus’ in the sols singing section. On Thursday representatives from Glen travelled to Athlone to collect our fifth green flag for Bio-diversity. During the week Glen also received an award of excellence for their project in ‘Discover Primary Science and Maths’. On Saturday the school team won the B final of their division of Cumann na mBunscol Football Championship in a thrilling match in Pearse Park. Members of the team included Claire Beirne, Jack Mulleady, Jack Belton, Dario Cigliano, Freddie Greene, Ethan Dolan, Ciaran Mulligan, Kayanna Greene, Lauren Campbell, Donal Mulligan, Selena Greene, Lee Dolan and Patrick O’Leary. Congratulations and well done to all involved.

Ardagh/Moydow/Glen Community Games

Athletics training in preparation for the upcoming County Sports Day is commencing in Ardagh Soccer Pitch on Saturday evenings at 5.30. All children going forward to compete in the County Sports day should attend. The county sports day takes place in Ballymahon GAA Grounds on Saturday, 21st and Sunday, 22nd June. The Field events will take place on Saturday evening, time to be confirmed and the athletic events will take place on Sunday commencing at 11 am. There are still some places available if you would like to compete in either the field or the track events in Ballymahon. If you have a community games jersey at home, can you please drop it off to Eamon, Leslie or Paddy as they will all be needed for the sports day. We would like to wish good luck to our teams who will be playing their Leinster matches within the next couple of weeks. U-15 Girls and U-15 Boys Badminton under managers Janice O’Kane and Kelly Callan play Ashbourne on Sunday, 8th June. U-13 Boys Table Tennis under manager Barry Callan play Kilbride on Tuesday, 3rd June at 6pm. U-12 Chess under manager Martin Smyth play Ashbourne on Sunday, 8th June. Our Boys Soccer match is yet to be arranged and we will keep you updated.
