Congratulations to Holly Flynn, Ballymacroley who came second place in the online Mathletes Competition National Final in Dublin on Saturday last. Holly was competing against finalists from all over the country and worked diligently to achieve second place. Holly is a 5th class student from St. Guasachts School, Bunlahy and is a credit to her school and a worthy representative for her county. Well done, Holly

Birthday greetings

Congratulations and best wishes to Deirdre Brady, Aughakilmore, who celebrated a very special birthday on Saturday night last with a lovely party for family and friends in Creegan’s. We hope you enjoyed the surprise Deirdre and we wish you many more great celebrations.


On Sunday next, June 1st, Colmcille Branch of the Mentally Handicapped will hold their annual fundraising event on the shores of Loch Gowna at Dring car par. This years event will mark the 40th anniversary of the festival so the committee have pulled out all the stops to make it a very special celebration. Mass for all members will be celebrated by Bishop Emeritus Colm O’Reilly at the site on Sunday June 1st at 1-30pm and following it the entertainment will start. Tea and Coffee and refreshments will be available throughout the day so come along and enjoy a great evening of top class entertainment and support St. Christopher’s.

Fun run

The parent’s association of St. Patrick’s National School, Killeen will host a 5kg fun run/walk on Sunday, June 15th next starting at 12pm. Registration will take place at McElvaney’s from 10-30am. Cost 10 euro for adults and 5 euro per child or 20 euro per family. Refreshments will be served afterwards and all support will be greatly appreciated.

Cycle and climb

On Sunday morning next at 4:30am, the 4th annual Glenn Brady cycle and climb departs from Longford to Croagh Patrick. We hope weather conditions will not hinder, what is a most enjoyable and challenging day out. We welcome everyone to join with the cyclists on the climb, for those planning the trip to Croagh Patrick, the cyclists will arrive at about 1pm. See you all on the day.
