School success

Well done to the Lenamore school children who won the County schools 9-a-side final at Pearse Park on Friday evening last. Their opponents were Granard National School with a final score of 2-15 to 4-5 in favour of Lenamore. They proudly accepted their Trophy and medals and together with manager and parents made their way home to a reception in the GAA Clubhouse. Congratulations to all involved and particularly their manager, Ollie Boylan who has coached and encouraged the school teams over a number of years. This is the first silverware for the school in the past ten years.

50/50 draw

Congratulations to Seamus Kenny, Drumming, who was last week’s winner of Naoi Rath Ré 50/50 draw. The prize money was €245.

Inny Anglers

Results of Inny Anglers Lotto draw held in Slowey’s for a jackpot of €4,850. Numbers drawn were 7, 8, 10 and 24. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners of €40 each were Mick Cox and Phil Slowey. This week’s draw takes place in The Hill, Carrickboy for a jackpot of €4,900. Members in charge of Lotto draw for the month of June are Johnny and Maureen Boyce.

Coffee morning

St Joseph’s Young Priest’s Society will host a Tea/Coffee Morning and Cake Sale after Masses in Ballycloghan and Legan this weekend May 31st and June 1st . Your support will be greatly appreciated.

Aurora Club

The first Aurora Club outing will take place on Thursday, 6th June. Anyone interested in travelling should book you seat with Valerie or Bridget.


Results of GAA Lotto draw held in The Hill, Carrickboy for a jackpot of €9,450. There was no jackpot winner. March three winner of €100 was Isabella Boylan. This week’s draw took place in Mitchell’s and results will be published next week.


Well done to the ICA ladies who braved the elements on Sunday last and walked the 5 kilometre fundraiser for Longford Hospice Homecare. Anyone who would like to contribute to this worthy cause can contact any ICA member. Pitch and Putt competition takes place in The Acres Ballinalee on Saturday, 14th June starting at 10am. The judging of brown bread competition will be held in Community Centre, Kenagh on Monday, 16th June at 7pm. This is a National Brown Bread Baking competition in association with the National Ploughing Association and sponsored by Aldi with an overall prize fund of €7,000. On the night also there will be a talk and demonstration given by Derek Healy of Moyvore Garden Centre.
