An air of gloom was cast over the area last week with the untimely passing of Elaine Brady, Lisney, Loughduff. In her late 30’s Elaine was the eldest daughter of Nancy, (nee Donohoe) and James and was sister to Louise and brother to Seamus who are left bereft at her sudden passing. Elaine attended the local central school in Mullahoran and later Lorreto College, Cavan and following some time in college she commenced work in Crover House Hotel where she remained until her death. As a service provider and work colleague there was none to equal Elaine, such was her inherent good nature and she was a firm favourite with all who came in contact with her, either through her work or socially. Generous of spirit, she had a warm outgoing personality which endeared her to all who knew her and her untimely death at such a young age has left her beloved family and friends bereft and has resulted in a great outpouring of grief. At the removal of remains to St. Joseph’s Church, Loughduff on Friday morning a Guard of Honour was provided by colleagues from Crover House and she was laid to rest in the local cemetery amid heart-breaking scenes as her family and many friends and indeed the wider community, endeavoured to come to terms with their personal sense of loss. The funeral Mass on Friday was concelebrated, the chief celebrant was Canon Owen Devaney, assisted by Canon Frank Gray, Frs. Noel Boylan, Ml Quinn and Seamus McKeown and family members and colleagues carried the Offetory Gifts. We extend our deepest sympathy to her family and members of her large extended family circle. May she rest in peace.
The death took place recently in London of Annette Nolan, formerly Kelly from Kilcogy middle. The funeral took place from Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mullahoran on Thursday last to Aughaboy cemetery, Ennybegs. We extend our sincere sympathy to her daughters and members of her family circle. May she rest in peace.
After months of canvassing and speculation in the local and Euro elections, the dust has now settled and the postmans bag will be a bit lighter. This parish boasted two County Council candidates - Mary Brady, Fine Gael and Philip Brady, Fianna Fail who each canvassed extensively and had great local support with Philip being elected. We congratulate him on winning, which was his father Danny’s seat and we wish him well in his new position, while we wish a happy retirement to Danny. Commiserations to Mary Brady who was previously on the Council and who has done trojan work for F.G. and the local community down through the years and we wish her well in the future.
