This weekend you are cordially invited to the staging of “Big Maggie” by John B Keane by Legan Drama Group in the Aurora Hall Legan. The production will run on three consecutive nights, Saturday March 22nd, Sunday 23rd and Monday 24th. Doors open at 8.00pm and curtain up at 8.30pm. This is one of John B Keane’s best known plays, full of drama, humour, sadness and dominated by the control of Maggie Polpin, following the death of her husband. This Thursday, March 20th, Longford ICA Federation will host a Gala Dinner and Celebration evening in Newcastle House Hotel, Ballymahon. ICA members with 20, 30, 40 and 50 years membership will be presented with certificates by National President, Liz Wall. Newcastle House Hotel nestled away in the forest at Forgney is a hidden gem of Architecture, Interior Design and excellent cuisine on our doorstep. A special treat on the night is a guided tour of the house with its historical and ghoulish past. Approximately 100 ICA ladies have already booked and a free bus is being provided to transport them from all corners of the county. Dinner will be served at 7pm. Any former members wishing to attend are very welcome.
Legan Walking Group enjoyed the Greenway experience in Westport, Co Mayo recently. 27 walkers travelled by coach and following their days walking and scenery, enjoyed a beautiful meal in the Castle Court Hotel, Westport. A further trip will be arranged in the near future. This Saturday, March 22nd the walkers will head to a new venue in Ballymahon. Meeting at Ballymahon GAA pitch at 10am. New members welcome.
Results of GAA Lotto draw held on Monday, 10th in Connaughton’s, Rathowen for a jackpot of €8,900. Numbers drawn were 1, 2, 6 and 9. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winner of €100 was Gary Murtagh, Carrickboy. This week’s draw took place in Slowey’s on Tuesday night, 18th March and results will be published next week.
Daffodil Day is the Irish Cancer Society’s biggest annual fundraiser. This year, Daffodil Day takes place on Friday, 28th March all over Ireland. It is community based and raises funds for free nationwide patient care services for cancer sufferers and their families. Please support generously.
