More ‘Sweet Spirit’ coming

‘YES I AM’- Just one of the new songs being performed by the Sweet Spirit Gospel Choir on Friday, 4th April at 8.30pm in St. George’s Church/Heritage Centre, Carrick-on-Shannon. The newly formed Quartet within the choir will perform some beautiful new songs, while Regina O’Carolan, Maryann McBrien and Pearl Kielty, supported by the choir will each perform the three new songs composed by Tish Dunleavy. The show will commence at 8.30pm and will finish at 10.30pm. Proceeds will go to St. Georges Church with a donation to Marie McKiernan for an orphanage in Ethiopia. Charity Car Wash
Niamh Flanagan, Leitrim Rose 2012/13 will be returning to Chernobyl on 13th of April for 5 days to care and support for children in the mental asylum in Belarus. Niamh will be holding a charity car wash on Saturday, the 22nd of March from 10am to 5pm and will also have sponsorship cards in local business. She would be very grateful for you support as this is going to a very worthwhile cause. The type of fundraising Niamh is doing means so much to these children of Belarus as a small donation can change their lives. Car Wash will be held at Aughawillan GAA Grounds.

Church of Ireland 
Church Street, Ballinamore, Sunday Service is at 12.15pm every Sunday except on the 4th Sunday which is held in Drumreilly Church, Drumreilly.

Table quiz

Ballinamore Boxing Club caters for children from age 8 to 17 as well as Adult Boxercise.  They are running a fundraising table quiz in Smyth’s Siopa Ól on Friday, 21st March at 9p.m. Come along and support a good cause and have some fun on the night!  Table of 4 / €20.  Spot Prizes on the night.


Bridge Club

Bridge continues on Thursday, 20th March at 7pm in the Commercial Hotel. All players welcome.

Big Maggie

The great character play ‘Big Maggie’ by John B Keane will be presented by the Sliabh An Iarainn players in the following venues: The Hunt Hall, Castle Street, Mohill on Friday next, 21st March 8.30pm. Eslin Community Centre on Sunday, 23rd March 8.30pm

40k Lough Gill Scenic Cycle

Acquired Brain Injury Ireland are holding their annual fundraising cycle on Sunday, the 13th April. This promises to be a fun 40K cycle around Lough Gill. Registration €15.00 from 9am on the morning of the cycle at the Community Brain Injury Service, Transitional Living Unit, Tonaphubble Sligo, beside the Racecourse. Cycle starts at 10am, refreshments will be provided en route and at the end of the cycle. All donations will go locally to the development of services for people in the Sligo, Leitrim and west Cavan area who have an Acquired Brain Injury. 125 Years of Sean O’Heslins

On Wednesday, 19th March at 8pm, Tommy Moran will give a talk in Ballinamore Library on the history of Sean O’Heslins GAA Club and the Community of Ballinamore. An evening not to be missed. Admission to this event is free and all are welcome.

Templeport Social Services
The Committee would like to thank everyone who attended our recent pancake night. Thanks also to all who baked, sponsored prizes, or sent donations. A special thanks to all who prepared the hall and those who helped with the catering on the night.  A great night was had by all.  All proceeds on the night goes towards the running of our Day Centre.

Change to Week Day Masses For Lent : Ballinamore : Mon 7pm, Tues & Thurs 7:30am, Wed & Fri 9am, Sat 11am & 7pm,(Vigil) Sunday 11:30am. Aughnasheelin : Wed & Fri 8pm, Sun 10am. Reminder: The Charities Tax Reclaim Scheme is entirely confidential and enables the parish to reclaim, at no cost to you, taxation which you have already paid, thus increasing the value of your donation to the church. The minimum qualifying amount is €250 & the rate has now changed to 31%. Therefore a Donation of €250 from a parishioner paying tax attracts a repayment of €112. This year the scheme includes Self-assessed and PAYE tax-payers. Any parishioners who have received a Tax Reclaim Form in February, please complete & return as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued support. The next Confirmation and First Communion Rituals will take place as follows, Confirmation on the w/end of 22/23 of March. First Communion on Sunday 30th March. Pilgrimage to Lourdes Fund Raising The Pilgrimage to Lourdes which takes place 27th May – 1st June 2014 are seeking your help to send a sick Pilgrim to Lourdes. Raffle tickets for the invalid fund on sale after mass Sat 22nd & Sun23rd March priced €5 each. 1st prize Trip to Lourdes.

Heartsafe Defib committee 
At our recent church gate collection, we collected €622. We would like to thank you all for your very generous donations. We will be forwarding texts to all our members in the next 2 weeks re your 4 monthly CPR revalidation. Please try to attend. We have currently 44 people trained in CPR and Defib use and if anyone would like to do this please contact Colm O’Reilly 087 9766738 , Anne Prior 0879941193 Marcella McKiernan 0876962928 and we will keep your names on file and contact you when we are doing our next new training session.

The Kayak run
Involves a run, a kayak and a cycle. The run will be circa 8km. The kayak will be circa 1km. The cycle will be circa 24km. It is on Sunday 20th April 2014. Starts at 1p.m.  Registration is between 10 and 12 a.m. but you can register on line now at http://precisiontiming.primo-solutions.co.uk/ps/event/BallinamoreFunKayakRun2014.
