Death of James Keegan
The sudden death occurred in his 92nd year on December 16th 2013 of Jim Keegan, Forgney, Moyvore. Jim was pre-deceased two years ago by his wife, Kathleen to whom he was married for 70 years. He was a well-known character in the local area, a member of the farming community and a hard worker all his life. People in the Ballymahon area got to know him down the years as he came in regularly to the local Cattle mart, he enjoyed meeting people there and in the shops. An active member of the local community, Jim loved to go to the Bog each year and also enjoyed sowing his garden, which he did with great pride. He also enjoyed going to the local pub, McCawleys in Moyvore, meeting the locals there and having a bit of craic with them all, in fact Jim actually had a pint or two in McCawleys the night before he died. Fr. Brilly, at Jim’s Funeral mass praised him for all the work he did looking after the Church and the adjoining cemetery over a long number of years which he gave much of his time to. Everyone who has relations buried at Forgney are very grateful to Jim for the care he took each year , especially around Cemetery Sunday when the area always looked so well. A huge number of people called to Jim’s home where he lay in repose to pay their respects to the Keegan family, and also at the Funeral Mass in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Forgney on the 19th December which bore testimony to the respect which is held for Jim and his family. His remains were laid to rest at the adjoining cemetery. We offer our deepest sympathy to Jim’s sons Frank, Joe and Vincent, Forgney, daughters Gret (Croshea) Nuala (Milltown )and Eileen (Canada), his sister-in-law Mollie (Cloncullen), nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law Brid, Julie and Ann, sons-in-law Tommy , Pat and Hank, cousins, relatives and friends. Hank and his daughter Andrea travelled over from Canada for the Funeral and Jim’s grandson Barry was also over from Australia visiting his family at the time of his grandfather’s death. May his Soul rest in peace.
Many congratulations to Sean Carey, youngest son of Sean and Mary, Creevaghbeg who got married at a Civil ceremony on New Year’s Eve to Ciara Kelly, daughter of Phil and Dermot from Athlone. A large number of the couple’s family and friends attended the very enjoyable Ceremony and also their Wedding Reception down by the Shannon at the lovely Wineport Lodge, they had a great night by all accounts and rang in the New Year in style. Best man for Sean on his big day was one of his friends, Bernard Mulvihill ably assisted by groomsmen Michael Carey, Sean’s brother and Michael Delaney, another of Sean’s friends. Ciara looked stunning in her beautiful ivory gown with long veil while her Bridesmaids, also looking radiant, wore pretty light-pink dresses. Her Bridesmaids were Caroline Fallon, Sandra Fogarty and Angelinn Treglin, all friends of Ciara. The newlyweds will return to their home in Marian Tce following their Honeymoon in Thailand which we hope they enjoyed. We wish Sean and Ciara many long years of good health, wealth and happiness together.
