The death occurred at the Lisdarn Unit Cavan on Thursday, 1st August last of Mr William Thompson, Lisnadaragh, Finea. Bill, as he was affectionately known had been in failing health for quite some time and was a member of an old and well respected farming family on the community. He was predeceased by his wife Peggy some years ago. His remains were removed to St Mary’s Church, Carrick on Friday evening at 7pm. Burial took place in adjoining cemetery the next morning following requiem mass at 11am. He is survived by his loving daughter, Kathleen, sisters, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends to whom deepest sympathy is extended. RIP.


The death occurred on Wednesday 7th August last of Mrs Bridget English nee Reilly, Forest Park, Virginia, Cavan and late of Lisdaragh, Finea. Predeceased by her husband Patrick and sons Tom and Patrick, she was of a very kind and friendly disposition. Her remains were removed to St Mary’s Immaculate Church, Virginia on Thursday evening at 7pm. Burial took place in Carrick cemetery the next morning following requiem mass at 11am. Deepest sympathy is extended to her niece, nephews, grandchildren and all family members RIP.

New arrival

Congratulations to Eamon and Helen Flood, Kilgolagh, Finea on the welcome arrival of their third child recently, a baby boy.


The recent Bar B Q held in Fitzsimons Bar, Finea on Sunday August Bank Holiday last was a great success. Sincere thanks to all who supported it in anyway. Monies raised were in aid of the church.

Tractor run

The Ballynarry Church restoration fund committee are holding a vintage tractor run taking in a scenic “Four counties Sheelin route” on Sunday 1st September next. Assembly at Fitzsimons Bar, Finea. Booking from 10.30am with starting time at 12 noon. Refreshments on the way followed by Bar B Q on arrival back at Fitzsimons that evening with live music and spot prizes.
