Midland Athletics Championships: We had 6 children from Edgeworthstown in the Midland Athletics Championships in Tullamore Friday, 17th May. The children took part in track races, javelin and long jump. Congratulations to Funmi Talabi who came first in the U8 300m and Yemi Talabi who came second in the U12 long jump. Well done to Niamh and Darragh Grehan, Jenny & Ben Purdy who all put in a fantastic effort on the night.
Mostrim Community Games: The National finals for music were held in IT Athlone on Saturday, May 25. We had a music group in this event. Well done to Setanta Flood, Michael & Sarah Doyle, Ciaran Mulligan, Colm Gilchriest and Shannon Browne. Congratulations to Maryann Lynch who placed 3rd in the U14 solo singing.
Thanks: We would like to thank Pauline Flood for coaching the children & accompanying them on the day. We really appreciate the dedication she has to all the children in music in the town. The County finals will be held on Sunday next the 9th June in Ballymahon and we wish all the competitors all the best of luck for the competition. You have all trained really hard. Thanks to Seamus Gilchriest, Cathal Kelly and Bridie Connell who gave up their free time to coach the children. We really appreciate it.
Family Fun Day: The Family Fun Day in The Green will be held on Saturday 6th July 2013 from 2-6 p.m. Something for everyone, games, entertainment, bouncing castles and stalls. The event is part of the Edgeworthstown Gathering 4th-7th July 2013. Cemetery Sunday: Cemetery Sunday will be held on Sunday 7th July 2013 at 3pm. This will be followed by a “Get Together” in the adjoining Community Centre as part of The Gathering weekend 4th – 7th July 2013. Refreshments will be served plus a display of historical photographs and slide show.
Slimming World: Edgeworthstown has moved to St. Mary’s Community Centre (behind the school), Granard Road and changed nights to every Wednesday at 5.30pm and 7.30pm. Contact Jenny (0861094773) for further details.
Community Games: The community games County finals are this coming Sunday the 9th of June in Ballymahon. We wish all the children competing, the very best of luck. The children have trained really hard & we hope they all enjoy the day. It’s a great day & it really brings a great sense of community spirit & pride.. Well done to the committee & all their volunteers who without their help we would not have been able to get just under 50 children to the finals . We would like to thank everyone who gave so generously to our bag pack on Fri 30th of May & Sat 1st of June . We would also like to thank all the volunteers who gave up their time & energy to help us. A huge thanks goes to Costcutters & SuperValu for allowing us to pack & for their help throughout the year. We really appreciate your kindness.
Mostrim GAA: There was no jackpot winner in the last Lotto draw. Numbers drawn were 4, 18, 21, 24. Twenty-five Euro winners were Harry Reynolds, Willie O’Hara, Frank Rooney, Ray Noonan. Tickets will be going on sale soon for the Mostrim GAA/C&D Foods Night at the Dogs – this is a major fundraiser for the club and we hope to get the same great support we got last year.
