Mrs Margaret Garrahan RIP.: There was widespread sadness at the news of the passing of Mary Garrahan,(nee Moffit), Culliagh, Scramogue which occurred recently. 
Mary was predeceased by her husband Peter 17years ago. Mary was a most friendly lady, very close to her family and her neighbours She was a woman of deep faith and lived a life of love and affection for all who knew her. Mary was a tremendous mother very supportive of all her family and deeply caring to those most close to her. She was a caring and friendly neighbour She will be very much missed by her family and a wide circle of friends. Mary is survived by her daughters Kay, Phil, Margaret, Teresa, sons Michael and Noel, brothers, sister grandchildren and all other relations. As a neighbour of Mary’s for many years, I can say she was a most kind and considerate woman, generous and caring. We will all miss you. May you rest in peace Mary, none more so than your loving family.

Table Quiz: A Table Quiz will take place this Friday night in Compton’s Central Bar, Strokestown in aid of Hub Community Café, Strokestown which supports people with special needs. Funds raised will be used to purchase some electrical equipment for new café. Table of 4 costs 40 euro. Sarah Flynn has asked me to ask you all to support her on the night.

Fundraiser: Whitehall National School are having a fundraiser at Longford Greyhound Track on this Friday 7th June. Tickets will cost 10 euro each. Children will get in free to the event. There is also sponsorship requested from the public for 8 races or maybe part sponsorship if you feel its too much of a financial burden to fully sponsor a race. Please support.

Appeal for readers for the Parish: People are needed to join Ministry of the Word and if you would like to participate please contact Fr. Eamon O’Connor. Service and Adoration will coincide with a worldwide Prayer Service being led by Pope Francis in Rome.

Whitehall National School Enrolment 2013: Enrolment at the school for 2013 is now underway and enrolment forms are available from the school or by contacting the Principal on 043-3326399.

Pro Life Campaign Notice: On Saturday 8th June there will be a vigil for Life in Merrion Square,Dublin from 3 to 4pm. The vigil will send amessage to Government not to legalise abortion this Summer in this Country.For firther information re transport etc please call 087-2668702.

Scramogue Church Restoration Fund: St. Anne’s Church Restoration Fund are holding a Summer Solstice BBQ at Leavy’s Lounge on Saturday 22nd June. Music on the night.Donations accepted on the door. All are asked to support this function.

Girl Guides: As from September it is hoped to form a Ladybird Unit in Clondra. It will cater for girls aged 5years to 7 years.An a Assistant Leader for the Brownies Unit and an Assistant for Ladybirds to help with Units at weekly meetings for one hour each week. Strokestown Golf Club: Strokestown Golf Club are looking for beginner Lady Golfers. The club have a fine course at Bumlin,less than a mile from Scramogue Cross. If you would like to know more contact Florence at 087-8701872.

Barry’s U-12 training: St. Barry’s GAA have under 12 training each Tuesday and Friday at 7pm.

Going to the Dogs: St. Barry’s GAA are holding a night at the dogs at Longford Dog Track on Friday 12th July. Further details in this paper in the coming months.

Trip to Dail Eireann: A trip to Dail Eireann is been organised for Tuesday 25th June .Train leaves Dromod station at 10am.3 Course Lunch in Dail Eireann at 12.50 ahead. There will be a tour of Leinster House after Lunch and also a visit to the Dail Chamber in session will take place.Contact 086-8534100 iof you require further.

Sinead McPartlan Brennan RIP: Our deepest sympathy to the family of Sinead McPartland Beennan on her untimely passing. There is widespread sorrow throughout the region. We think of Adian, twin daughters Adrienne, Davina, mother, brother many relations and close friends. We will have a full obiturary note next week. May she rest in peace.
