Gowna Gathering 2013: The Gowna Gathering Festical will take place on the August Bank Holiday weekend from 2nd to the 4th August. 
The festival will be focussed around the 25th Anniversary of the 1988 Senior Championship, winning teams in Men’s Football and Women’s Comogie. On Friday 2 August exhibitions of local organisations including Football, Camogie, Hunting, Fishing, Tidy Towns and many more in the hall at the official opening of the Hall extension. Saturday 3rd August presentation to the 25th Anniversary to the 1988 Senior Championship winning Men’s football and Women’s Camogie in the Piker’s Lodge Hotel. Sunday 4th August Social in the Piker’s Lodge Hotel. More details at a later date.

Irish Dancing Classes: Irish Dancing Classes every Monday in Cortobel National School. Classes from 2pm to 3pm or 3pm to 4pm. Whist: Whist game in St Brigid’s Communtiy Centre this Wednesday night 27th March at 8.30pm. New players very welcome.

Social: Dance the night away on Easter Saturday night in St Brigid’s Community Centre, Loch Gowna, Music on the night by Jan Corrigan. Commencing at 9pm, supper served, admission 10 euro.

Gowna G.A.A. Development Fund Co-Lotto Draw Result: The lotto took place on the 19th March with no jackpot winner. Winners of 20 euro each were John McHugh, Leitrim; Pascal Leddy, Geraldine Harton, Knockaughey; T.J. Fitzpatrick, Gowna and Johnny and Linda Reilly. Next week’s draw takes place in White’s with a jackpot of 2,950 euro.

Engaged: Congratulations to Gowna footballer Mark McKeever, Drumhilla and Rosie Crowe, Lacken on their recent engagement in New York. We wish them every happiness for the future.

Holy Thursday Mass 8.30, 9.30pm Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Good Friday 3pm Liturgy of Lords Passion, Easter Sunday Mass in Mullinalaghta 9.30am. Church of Ireland Easter Service - Easter Sunday - Morning Sunrise service at 7am outside at Carrigallen Church, Loch Gowna Church Service at 9.30am. Fr PJ Fitzpatrick and Rev Hazel Hicks wish all their parishioners a happy Easter.

Sympathy: Sympathy is extended to Patsy Briody, Aughavains, Loch Gowna and Jimmy Briody, Drumgore, Loughcliff on the death of their brother, Tom Briody, Aughaloora, Kilnaleck which occurred at Cavan General Hospital on Wednesday, 13th March. Sympathy is also extended to his wife Bridie, sons, daughters, sisters, grandchildren, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and extended family. His remains were removed to St Patrick’s Church, Aughaloora on Thursday evening and following funeral mass on Friday morning, burial took place in Mullaboy Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Sympathy: We extend our deepest sympathy to Raymond Daly, Main St on the recent death of his girlfriend Debbie Redahan, Corglass, Moyne. Also sympathy to her parents Pat and Amy, sisters Barbara and Audrey, brother in law, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Credit Union Sub Office: Loch Gowna sub office open for business every Saturday evening in St Brigid’s Community Centre from 6pm-7.30pm.
