League: Due to the continuous rain Arva changed their home game with Corlough and travelled to their venue on Saturday last where they recorded a good victory over the home side. The return game will be played in Arva later in the year. Arva team and scorers – Richard Keith, Shane Finnegan, James Morris, Patrick Murtagh, Dermot Mc Glade, Thomas Brady, Stephen Ellis, Brian Fitzpatrick, Fergal Mc Glade (0-1), Sean Mc Manus, Jonathan Mc Cabe, Gavin Doyle (0-3), Alan Barry, Kevin Bouchier (2-1), Conal Sheridan (2-6). On this Sunday Arva will be on the road again as they travel to Butlersbridge to play in the Brady’s Arva Volkswagen Division 3 League.

“Come Dine with Me”: Function has been rescheduled for Saturday 4th May in the Breffni Arms Hotel and Leisure Complex and the club hopes all those who were due to attend will be able to come along on the night.

Juvenile Club: Due to weather conditions the under 8 blitz due to take place in Drumalee was cancelled, will be rescheduled to later date. Next under 8outing will be to Lacken on 20th April. Details will follow. Under 12 spring league kicks off for St Patricks Arva on 5th April as Arva take on Drumlane in Michael Cully Park at 5.45 pm. All support much appreciated. Extending our best wishes to St Josephs Under 14 team as they embark on their league campaign. They take on Castletara on this Saturday 30th March at 12noon. Also good luck to Arva Ladies GAA as their under 12 team make their presence felt. Training: adverse weather conditions has called for training times to be rescheduled, we sincerely thank the parents for their continued support and co operation in relation to this matter.

Cavan win: Cavan Senior team has a great victory over Wicklow in Aughrim on Sunday last by 0-14 to 0-11. They still have to play Roscommon in Kingspan Breffni Park on Sunday week 7th April and depending on other results there is still an outside chance of promotion. The Rossies will be at full strength following St Bridget’s great win in the All Ireland Club Final so it should be a cracking game.

Church Services: For the Arva Church of Ireland Parish Group – Easter Sunday 7am Sunrise Service outside at Carrigallen church. The service will include hymns, prayers, Bible readings and Holy Communion. After the service breakfast rolls and tea/coffee will be served with Easter eggs for the children. Everyone welcome. Seating will be provided for those who require it.
9.30am Holy Communion Gowna church. Methodist Church Corlisbratten, Arva: Maundy Thursday Service will take place at 8pm. Easter Sunday Service at 8pm Tea etc will be served in the School House following Service.

Sacred Heart Church, Arva: Holy Thursday Mass at 8.00 pm. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until 11.00 pm. Good Friday – Celebration of Our Lord’s Passion at 3.00 pm. Holy Saturday – Easter Vigil at 9.00 pm. Easter Sunday Mass at 10.00 am. Trócaire Boxes should be returned on Good Friday – please round up to the nearest €2 and put into an envelope – please do not return Trócaire Boxes. The collection on Holy Thursday will be donated to Trócaire. The Sick and Housebound in the Arva and Coronea area will be visited around the usual times on Good Friday from 11.00 am onward. Church of the Immaculate Conception, Coronea – Holy Thursday at 9.00 pm. Good Friday at 3.00 pm. Holy Saturday at 7.30 pm.

Lourdes: The annual Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 27th May to 1st June led by Bishop Leo O’ Reilly. Bookings may be made for the Assisted Pilgrim Section with Rev Kevin Fay, Lavey on 087 857 9968 / 049 433 0018. Bookings for Hotels is through McGinnity Travel, Coleman Road, Cavan on 049 4331 831. If anyone feels that someone in their family or a neighbour would benefit from taking part in this Pilgrimage they should contact Fr Fay.

Bingo: The weekly Bingo sessions continue on each Sunday night in St Patrick’s Hall, Arva with a great attendance. There is over €3,100-00 in Prize Money on offer each week (€1,000-00 on page 9) making it one of the best around. €1,000 winner – Ann Brady, Rosduff. Eyes down at 8.30 pm.

Free Money: Saturday Night’s Raffle in the Breffni Arms Hotel and Leisure Complex, Arva is called ‘Free Money Saturday’ and on Saturday night last there was no winner. Gathering: In connection with the gathering Ireland, The Arva 3 Provinces Festival will run from the 26th July - 5th August. During these dates their are a number of events taking place. These events include The Ghosts of Arvagh, 3 Provinces Trail, Arvagh Agricultural Show, Drama Night, Breffni Challenge, Fair Day, Soap Box Derby, Street Music, Busking & many more family fun events. Also to mark this event we are putting together a book and would be grateful if anyone had old pictures, story’s, article’s of interest etc. from in and around the area. All items will be returned. Community Games: Well done to the Arva/Killeshandra/Cornafean Under 13 Girls and Under 13 Boys Indoor Soccer Teams, who were competing against other teams from across the county on Saturday 16th March. Congratulations to the Under 13 Girls (Kayla Brady, Leah Brady, Maria Finnegan, Aisling McManus, Claire Scott, Johanna Sheridan, Emma Walch and Eabha Whelan) who made it all the way to the final on the day and won! Good luck to the girls in the Ulster Finals in Letterkenny on Saturday 20th April

Strictly Come Dancing: Three local’s are representing Arva in Strictly Come Dancing in the Hotel Kilmore, Cavan on Friday 26th April with proceeds in aid of the restoration of Killeshandra Community Centre. Geraldine Kiernan, Tycusker, Eimear Gormley, Pound Street and Jim Giblin, Brankhill will be strutting their stuff and would love to have local support on the night. Each participant has tickets for sale or contact 087 7997 212. Geraldine, Eimear and Jim would like to thank everyone for their support and sponsorship so far.

Social Dancing: Will be held in the Breffni Arms Hotel and Leisure Complex, Arva on Friday of next week 5th April. Music will be provided by J&S Sound with dancing from 10pm to 12.30am. Spot Prizes and refreshments on the night, be there.
