HOLY WEEK: St Felims Church Ballinagh was filled to capacity for the Holy Week ceremonies conducted by Rev Peter Casey PP. On Holy Thursday the Mass of the Lords Supper and institution of the Blessed Eucharist was followed by Eucharistic Adoration with the Blessed Sacrament exposed until mid-night. On Good Friday the ceremonies of the Liturgy of the word, Adoration of the Cross and distribution of Holy Communion was again followed by Euhcharistic Adoration which continued until midnight. Large congregations were present for the Easter Vigil as well as for the Sunday morning masses.

CREDIT UNION: The new offices of Ballinagh Credit Union at Lower Main Street were officially opened on Thursday following the blessing ceremony performed by Very Rev Peter Casey PP with the cutting of the tape by the local founder of the Credit Union Mr Charlie Fleming a former member of Cavan County Council.

THE GATHERING: This year Ballinagh gaelic football club celebrated their 125th anniversary of their foundation, one hundred years ago. In 1913 the club won the first ever Cavan Junior County Football Championship. Over the years numerous championships in the way of minor, under 21 junior and intermediate have been won. To celebrate the historic occasion massive celebrations are planned for the June Bank holiday weekend with full particulars later.

GARDENING CLUB: Meeting of Ballinagh Gardening Club on Monday 8th April (Please note change of night) in the community centre Ballinagh at 8pm. Special speakers Nial and Roslyn ‘Tullyvin Garden Centre’ with items for sale on the night. Everyone welcome. Refreshments served. Non members 4 euro nightly.

MRS BRIDGET O’REILLY: There was general regret with the news of the death of Mrs Bridget (Bridie) O’Reilly, Golf Links Road Cavan and formerly of Cormeen Ballinagh. A most respected lady she was predeceased by her husband John and to her sons daughters grandchildren and relatives I extend the sympathy of our community. The funeral which was large and representative took place following mass in the Cathedral.
