Vocational Schools Championship: Congratulations to Cnoc Mhuire, Granard on reaching the All-Ireland Vocational Schools Senior ‘A’ Football Championship Final.
On Saturday last at Sean Treacy Park in Tipperary Town they overcame Clonakilty Community College in a hard fought encounter. When the final whistle sounded just a solitary point separated the sides on a scoreline of 1-7 to 0-9. Captained by local lad David McGivney the panel included goalie Luke Meehan who brought off some excellent saves and ensured the opposition did not get a goal. Partnering David at midfield was Aidan McElligott. Both played their part in delivering balls to their forwards. Rian Brady as usual was very reliable scoring 0-3. Their Northern Gaels club mate Nigel Rabbitte rattled the Clonakilty net after two minutes and this proved to be decisive in the end. Indeed Nigel was on hand to pop over a point. They now face reigning All- Ireland champions Holy Trinity College, Cookstown in Croke Park on Saturday 13th April. We wish them well.
