Cemetery Sunday & Field Day: Sunday 4 August it is planned to have a Gathering Event for the community with a family field day in the St. Mary’s GAA ground following the religious ceremonies. There will be loads of family entertainment organised on the day and an ideal opportunity for friends and family from far and wide to meet up.

Longford Association – Dublin: The 59th Longford Association Annual Gala Dinner takes place in the Red Cow Moran’s Hotel, Dublin on Saturday 13 April commencing at 8pm sharp. Award recipients this year are Abbeyshrule’s Tidy Towns Community Group and Killoe man Frank Kiernan. Music will be by Noel Cassidy and his band. A most enjoyable night is guarantee to all. G.A.A. Race Day: The annual Race Day organised by Longford G.A.A. at Punchestown Races was launched recently in Aras Ui Bhrian Longford. The date is set for Wednesday 24 April – Gold Cup Day. Sponsors again this year are RSM Farrell Grant Sparks. This is the 11th year of the event which has become one of the largest corporate events at Punchestown.
Recent Marriage: Congratulations to Annette Kearney Granard and Gary O’Hanlon Ramelton Donegal who were married on18 March in St. Mary’s Church Granard. A reception for family and friends followed in Viewmount House Longford. We wish the happy couple many years of wedded bliss.
Make a Wish Foundation: The staff of Bank of Ireland Granard branch would like to express their gratitude to all the people of Granard and surrounding areas who supported the recent “Bake my Day” event in Bank of Ireland Granard which was in aid of the Make a Wish Foundation. A charity that helps to make wishes come true for terminally ill children. The event raised nearly €600.00 for the charity.
Bingo: Takes place each Wednesday night at 8.45pm in the Community Centre Granard. Proceeds go to St. Mary’s Granard and Abbeylara GAA Clubs. Your continued support is much appreciated.

Night Vigil: The next First Friday/Saturday all night reparation and adoration vigil to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts of Jesus and Mary is scheduled for Friday the 5 April commencing at 10 pm. This night of prayer is on the weekend of the Divine Mercy and is within the Octave of Easter. There are two venues, one is the Chapel of Our Lady’s Manor, Edgerworthstown and the second one is in St Anne’s (Former Mercy Convent), Convent Lane Mohill. All are welcome. Easter Camp: A very successful Easter Camp took place last week and finished up on Holy Thursday with an Easter Egg Hunt in Derrycassin Wood. A most enjoyable time was had by all the children who took part.
