Community Alert: Cullyfad Community Alert Group have registered for the installation of Personal Monitored Alarms under the Seniors Alert Scheme. The scheme only covers the purchase and installation of an alarm.

The monitoring yearly fee is not covered by the scheme and must be paid by each individual alarm holder. The monitoring fee is in the region of €70 per year. Eligibility is based on the following criteria: Age 65 years or older; Living Alone or living with other eligible person; Live within the Community Alert Group catchment area; Aware of monitoring costs; Grant assistance is NOT available for people under 65 or for older persons living with family members. MOBILE PHONES: Lough Ree sub aqua search and rescue team are requesting all unwanted or old mobile phones (with batteries) to assist with the cost of installing a new defibrillator in their rescue van. Due to the fire disaster this is a vital piece of equipment for their rescue process. Please leave unwanted mobiles in Hughes shop Ennybegs or tel 087 9565493 Mary for further details.

GET WELL: The parish extend good wishes to all who are in hospital or unwell at home. We hope you will have a speedy recovery.

GAA: Well done to all you fit ladies and mentors for achievement in the League final V Clonguish last weekend. Also to the senior football team and mentors who yet again shone through in their challenge for the Leinster Club championship qualifier V St Anne Wexford. POETRY LAUNCH: Dr Philip Brady (Edgeworthstown) will launch his fifth collection of poetry entitled “missing” in Longford county library at 7.30pm on Wednesday 7 November 2012.Dr Brady is a brother of Mrs Mary Hughes Farragh Killoe. Everyone is very welcome and all proceeds are in aid of Hospice Africa Uganda.

KILLOE COMMUNITY GAMES: Our Community Games Disco took place in Cullyfad Community Centre on Saturday night, the 27th. October. It was great to see the young people from the area celebrating their success over the past year in Community Games and enjoying a great night’s fun. Many thanks to Cullyfad Community Centre Committee for the use of the hall; to the ladies who looked after the shop; to all the people who helped with supervision; to the businesses and individuals who donated generous spot prizes and to DJ Andrew McGrath for supplying great music and Halloween props on the night. Thanks to everyone on Killoe Community Games Committee for organizing the disco and ensuring that the night was a great success. A great night was had by all.

Cilleo Yew Tree Players: Rehearsals for our upcoming One Act Productions are in full swing. All cast and crew are busy preparing for three great performances which are not to be missed! Dates for the diaries are 24th and 25th November.

Knitting show: Well done to the ladies from the Killoe area who entered the Knitting and Stitching Show which took place in the RDS in Dublin last weekend.
