HARVEST THANKSGIVING: Service in celebration of God’s faithfulness particularly at Harvest time and we invite you to a special evening of song with the Clare cholare ladies group from Co Antrim and preacher pastor David Legg in Ballinagh Mission Church on Sunday 9th September coming at 7.30pm and everyone welcome.

CHURCH FUNDS: In aid of Ballynarry and Carrick Church repair funds a harvest festival and vintage tractor run takes place at country markets in Sheelin Park Ballymachugh on Saturday September 1st commencing at 3pm followed by barbecue and barn dance in Buddy Kiernans at 9.30pm with music by Chuck and June. On Sunday September 2nd a vintage car and tractor run will take place from Fitzsimons Finea commencing at 12 noon followed by barbecue and live music and the public are asked to please support this very deserving fundraiser.
GARDENING CLUB: The annal general meeting of Ballinagh Gardening club takes place on Monday September 3rd in the community centre at 8pm.New members welcome free raffle and supper served. On this night the annual vegetable growing competition and flower arrangements competitions take place with Scot trophy awarded for living room table arrangements 15” X 15” made up of flowers from our own garden or mixture of wild flowers while the O’Rourke trophy will be awarded for the best collection of vegetables/salad crops displayed on a tray/trug with no larger than 24 inches (strictly enforced).The vegetables /salad crops exhibited must be home grown and grown by the exhibitor while the collection must be of five items – 3 of a kind of each vegetable is required except for cabbage and lettuce or turnips where two heads are needed all of which must be displayed on a board 24” X 24” with all entries to be in by 7.45pm and pints will be awarded for uniformity of size quality freshness and artistic appearance of the exhibit with only one collection per exhibitor permitted and judges decision final.
CHOIR: Anyone interested in joining the Church choir please note that the date for the first practice is St Felims Church on wednesday Sept 5th at 7.30pm. Mr John Reid will be the choir master and anyone who would like to join is asked to come along at that time.

CROKE PARK: The meeting of Al Ireland senior football champions Dublin and Connaught champions Mayo at Croke Park on Sunday in this years semi final caused great excitement among local gaels with Ballinagh based garda Joe O’Connor a former Mayo star being delighted wit the result with Garda O’Connor’s nephew Gillian who gave a man of the match performance. Gilian O’Connor who last year was named as the all Ireland young player of the year is a popular young man in Ballinagh and in December performed the task of turning on the towns Christmas lights.
LINE DANCE CLASSES: resume in the Lavey Inn on Tuesday September 11th and at Breffni Arms Hotel Arva on Thursday September 15th with beginners at 8.30pm and advanced at 9.30pm. Line dance routines are taught using simple steps to country music with no partners required and suitable for all age groups and line dancing is a great way to keep fit and an enjoyable atmosphere.
