U14 football: Well done to the Ballymahon/Forgney U.14 footballers who had a great win against Western Gaels in the A Championship played in Leo Casey Park on Friday evening last. We wish the lads and their mentors the best of luck in their next game.
Off to Australia: we wish a bon voyage and the best of luck to Troy Millar, Moigh , son of Annabelle Wright who set sail for Australia on Monday in the hopes of finding work over there. We hope all goes well for you Troy.
Senior football: Well done to Ballymahon Senior football team who had a very convincing win over Killashee in Ardagh at the weekend.
Sympathy: Our deepest sympathy is extended to Pat Rock, Lanesboro, formerly of Garrynagh, Shrule, Ballymahon on the sad and untimely death of his wife, Martina which occurred last week. Also to her son Enda, to the Rock family, Shrule, the Mulvihill family in Derrahawn and to all her relatives and wide circle of friends. Martina was a great supporter of the Newtowncashel football team and an avid supporter of Manchester United. She was a lady who was popular with everyone, who was always very outgoing and friendly. The respect with which she was held was evident by the very large number of people who called to her home on hearing of her passing, who attended the removal of her remains from the funeral parlour in Lanesboro to Ballyleague Church and also at the funeral Mass. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. May God grant rest to her Soul.
World Suicide Prevention Day: A Ecumenical Service of Remembrance and Hope will be held in Christ the King Cathedral, Mullingar and also in the Church of the Assumption, Tullamore on Monday le September at 7.30pm. Show your support for suicide prevention and support those bereaved by suicide. All are welcome, Refreshments will be served afterwards.

Thanks: The Walter Stevenson Oncology unit at St. James Hospital, Dublin and the Kenny family wish to thank most sincerely all those who so generously supported the recent West Highland Way fundraiser. A total of €4,830 was raised for the unit. Many thanks to all for their generous support.

Blood Donation clinic: The Irish Blood Transfusion Service will have a Clinic for blood donations in The Shamrock Lodge hotel, Athlone this week , Wednesday and Thursday 5th and e September. Donors who donate regularly are vital in helping to ensure that sufficient quantities of blood and blood components are constantly available to supply hospitals throughout the country. Please go along between 4.30pm and 8.00pm.
Tragic Accident: We wish to extend our sincere sympathy to Mrs Bernie Noonan, Rathmore, Tony McCormack, Drynan and Thomas McCormack, Moyvore on the very sad death following an accident on August 25th last of their sister Dolores, Balrath, Delvin and formerly of Moyvore Post Office. Our deepest sympathy is also extended to Dolores’s partner Pat (Flynn), her beautiful young daughters Katie and Bronagh, her aunt Tess and to all her relatives and many friends. A huge number of people attended the removal of her remains from St. Camillus Nursing Centre Chapel in Killucan and again at the funeral Mass in Killulagh Church on Wednesday morning last, many people from this area travelled up to pay their respects to the McCormack family. May God grant rest to her soul.
Defeat for the Minor Club: Hard luck to Ballymahon/Forgney Minor football team who were beaten by Southern Gaels in the semi-final of the Championship hold in Killashee on Thursday night last.
Fundraiser: The Forgney GAA club have organised a fund-raising drive based around the All Ireland Football and Hurling Finals to be played in Croke Park this September. The 1st Prize is 2 tickets to the All Ireland Football Final on Sunday 23rd September in with overnight accommodation in a city centre hotel plus €1000 euro spending money. The 2nd Prize is 2 tickets to the All Ireland Hurling Final on Sunday 9th September, with an overnight stay in a city centre hotel plus€ 750 euro spending money The 3rd prize Is also 2 tickets to the All Ireland Hurling Final with an overnight stay in city centre hotel and €500 euro spending money. Tickets for those very appealing prizes are now on sale costing 20 euro and can be had from the committee members, Joe Keegan, Seamus Finless, Patrick Lloyd, Pat O’Toole, Eamon Reilly, Jude Mc Lynn and Matthew Kearney, the support of the parish and surrounding areas would be most appreciated.
St. Christophers Services: Ballymahon Local Branch are holding a meeting in there new building in Parkside(beside Ballymahon Gaa pitch) on Friday 7th September at 8.30pm. All Members are asked to attend. New members are welcome.
