Tidy towns: Well done to Tarmonbarry Tidy Village Committee again have helped the area increase its marks in the National Tidy Towns Competition, and even though Keadue,Cloontuskert and Castlecoote took the honours in Roscommon,Tarmonbarry were not far off the mark.I am sure the good work will continue and the push to get Tarmonbarry into the top three and hopefully some honour nationally as well.Good luck to all.

Tarmonbarry Lotto: Results from 4/9/2011. Numbers drawn were 28,27,17,16.No jackpot winner. 80e Joe Coogan.40e Ann Harkin. 30e John Joe Cahill. Last Sunday’s draw took place in the Lodge and we will bring you those results in next weeks notes.Sadly despite repeated requests I am not getting Lotto Results at all except from one member who when he is on duty gives me the details each on Sunday night.

Peter Murphy RIP.: It was with deep regret that I learned of the death of Peter Murphy former Independent Cllr on Longford County Council who passed away recently. Peter was a progressive farmer and a no nonsense representative of the people of his region. He lived just outside Newtownforbes and was well known throughout Co.Longford and adjoining Counties. He was a most popular man and a jovial character who had a word for everyone he met.Peter is survived by his wife Emer, sons, daughters, grandchild, sister Nan, nephews, nieces and many relatives and close friends. We extend sympathy to Nan Fallon, Carraun,Whitehall on the death of her brother Peter, also sympathies to Geraldine, Doireann and Liam. May Peter rest in peace.
