Baby Girl: Congratulations to Padraig and Gelliesa Farrell (Nee McNaboe) on the birth of their baby girl in Cavan general hospital which occurred recently. A welcome grandchild for Ms. Eileen McNaboe, Malrich Loch Gowna and Tony and Nelie Farrell, Clonelly Moyne Co. Longford. We wish you health and happiness for the future.

Dance the night away: Mick Flavin and his band returns to play in the Pickers Lodge Hotel on Saturday night 23rd July. Doors open from 10p.m. A good night’s entertainment guaranteed.

1st Annual Triathlon: The 1st Triathlon/Relay is scheduled for Saturday August 13th 2011. This marks the occasion of Gowna’s first ever Novelty Triathlon: Row a boat, Run a lock and Cycle the block! Give Blood: The Mobile Unit if the Irish Blood Transfusion Service will visit St. Brigid’s Community Centre Loch Gowna on Monday 18th July and Tuesday 19th July. The clinic will be operation from 5p.m. to 8.30p.m., as 3,000 units are required each week to service the needs of our hospitals. All who are eligible to donate are requested to make a special effort to attend and bring a friend.

New Books: Mrs. Elizabeth (Lil) Canty Nee Kiernan, Meath and formerly of Dingins, Corlesmora has unveiled a book of short stories, The Dark Side of The Moon. Many stories in the book relates to the life and time of Lil when she was growing up in Dingins. This book is available at the Loch Gowna Post Office. Also still available is the book that Gowna G.A.A launched in May in acknowledgement and continued commitment of teams and committee members over the past 30 years. This book shows many pictures of teams and committee members and would make an ideal souvenir and gift for family members living overseas.

Congress Bell: The Congress Bell will visit the Church of the Holy family Loch Gowna on Wednesday 20th July at noon with a short prayer service to follow.

Wedding Bells: Congratulations to Ann Marie, Eanaghran, Aughnacliffe and Des Sheridan, Rossduff, Aughnacliffe who were united in the ceremony of Matrimony in the Church of the Holy Family, Loch Gowna on Friday July 8th. The chief celebrant was Fr. PJ Fitzpatrick and he was assisted by Fr. Kevin Fay. The bride was given in marriage by brother Kieran, attended by chief bridesmaid Lorraine Conroy and bridesmaids Brigid Mulligan and Catriona Mantin. Best man was Eamon Sheridan. Groomsmen were John Paul Sheridan and Aidan Sheridan. To enjoy the occasion a very enjoyable reception was held at Crover House Hotel. Mountnugent, Co. Cavan. We wish Ann Marie and Des many years of good health and happiness in their married life together;

Loch Gowna G.A.A Lotto: The following numbers were drawn for the Development Fund Co-Lotto Draw: 6, 14, 30 and 31. There was no jackpot winner. The winners of €20 were Kyle Duffy, Killeshandra, Joe Brennan, Cortober, Thomas Tierney, Gowna, Dan Gaffney, Ennis, Co. Clare and Tony Gormley, Gowna.

Blessed Sacrament: Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament continues every Wednesday evening 8p.m. to 9p.m. in the Church of the Holy Family, Loch Gowna.
