CANAL: The Royal Canal Amenity Group, Ballymahon Branch would like to thank all who turned up for their Family and Mid Summer Boat Rally. They were certainly blessed with the weather on the day. This year, they had the added attraction of the Vintage Tractor Club joining them with Water Sports Day and to each and every person who joined them on the day, the organising committee hope you enjoyed the food, music and craic. To everyone who worked hard and to all who have supported them over the past 20 years, a big thanks again.
Lebanon: We send our very best wishes to Dolores (Dolly) Collins, Ballymulvey, Mark Lennon, Rathmore and Fergal McLoughlin, Creevaghmore who are presently in the Lebanon where they will be serving with the Peace Keeping Forces for the next few months. We hope that their time there will be safe and peaceful and we look forward to seeing them home later in the year.
Wedding: Congratulations to Aisling Finn, daughter of Michael and Nancy, Cartron, Ballymahon who recently got married to Lorcan O’Rourke in the Church of The Immaculate Conception, Tang. We wish Aisling and Lorcan many years of good health, wealth and happiness together.
Cemetery Sunday: Cemetery Sunday takes place on the following dates: Sunday 17th July – Prayers in Taghsinod Cemetery after 10.00a.m. mass in Carrickedmond, Sunday 24th July – mass and blessing of the graves in Abbeyderg cemetery at 7p.m. and on the 31st July – mass and the blessing of the graves in Carrickedmond Cemetery at 11a.m.
Walking Club: If you would like to join the walking group in the area, please join them at the Ballymahon mart, on the Mostrim road each Wednesday evening at 8p.m. Everyone welcome.

Death: We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Mrs. Kathleen Dalton (nee Reilly), Drimnagh on her recent death at 92 years of age. The peaceful death occurred in St. James’s Hospital in Dublin. Our thoughts are with her Brother Donal Reilly, Cloncallow, sons, sisters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and to all of her relatives and friends, may she rest in peace.

Senior Football: Hard luck to the Longford senior football team who lost to Tyrone in the Qualifiers of the Senior Championship in Pearse Park on Saturday last and to Kevin Diffley who is a valued member of the team.
Congratulations: Congratulations to Fergal Kelly, son of Carmel and Michael, Ballymahon who refereed the Leinster Minor Football Final between Dublin and Meath in Croke Park on Sunday afternoon last. Well done to Fergal and his officials.
