Silver Anniversary: Congratulations to Marie and Brendan Cosgrove, Derrygad who celebrated their silver wedding anniversary last weekend. The special occasion was marked by a special party organised by their family and was attended by their relatives and friends in the Richmond Inn, Clondra. We wish Marie and Brendan health, wealth and happiness and hope their trip to Paris lives up to its expectations.
Birth: Congratulations to Paul McDonnell and Barbara King on the recent birth of their baby girl Jessica. Congratulations are also extended to the happy grandparents Mary and Jackie, Clondra.
Congrats: Well done to the Southern Gaels minor team who won the League Final in Division 3 who defeated St. Dominic’s of Kenagh recently. Captain Michéal Bannon was presented with the shield by Michael Cooney (sponsor). Well done to the team and their mentors.
All-Ireland: Congratulations and well done to Orla Duffy, Cloontagh, who took part in the All-Ireland track and field events which took place in Tullamore, Co. Offaly last weekend. Orla secured an impressive 12th position in the under 13 shot-putt and also achieved her personal best of 7.7m. Orla hasn’t much time to rest on her laurels though as she is heading off to Croke Park next weekend to play in an exhibition match at half-time on the “hallowed ground”.
Lotto: The local lotto will be held on next Sunday night the 17th July in the Camlin Bar, Clondra for a jackpot of 14,160. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.
Sympathy: Deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Rita Hanrahan, Kileeney, who passed away suddenly last week. Rita is survived by her sisters, Evelyn, Breege, Claire and Agnes and her brother Paddy. We also sympathise with her cousins, relatives and large circle of friends. Rita’s funeral took place on Saturday last to Ballymacormack cemetery. May she rest in peace.
Cemetery Sunday: Cemetery Sunday for the parish will be held on Sunday August 14th. Mass and blessings in Killashee cemetery will be at 10.30a.m. Mass and blessings at Ballinakill will be at 3p.m. Prayers and blessings will take place in Clondra cemetery at 7.30p.m. followed by mass at 8p.m. Many people have been doing some work in the cemeteries at all times and now anyone who has an hour to spare could bring a strimmer, shovel etc. along in preparation for Cemetery Sunday preparation.
