TIDY TOWNS - A meeting of the Group Leaders of Ardagh Tidy Towns was held in the Community Centre on Friday 29th of April. Thanks to all who attended.
In the Landscaping Group, led by Brendan Farrell, planting of tubs and containers will begin shortly. Preparations are underway to establish a” Wildlife Garden” and this will really add to the natural beauty of the area. The village green will be planted and maintenance work will be carried out on existing beds.
In other groups, repair work has been carried out on some of the benches and signage. A proposal to deal with litter will be delivered soon. This year we are asking people in the community to keep areas litter free by “adopting a patch” outside their house or on the approach roads to the village. Currently stone walls are being restored by F.A.S. and the Council have repaired some of the roads. Work will begin on a newsletter to keep everyone up to date.
Thanks to those people who have already volunteered this year and as ever we are looking for more volunteers. If you would like to get involved in any of the groups please give your name to the leaders or contact (086) 1219292. You can also support the Ardagh Tidy Towns by attending Bingo on Tuesday nights in the Community Centre and/or buying the weekly lottery tickets. Your support is appreciated.
