NEW BABY - Congratulations to Helen Mulvihill and Tommie Hassett on the birth of their new baby girl on Friday April 29th!


The Parents Association Annual Fundraising event will be held in “The Hill” this Saturday 7th May from 8.30pm onwards. It will comprise of a Cake Sale, Raffle and Lucky Dip Wheel. Any baking donations or items for the Lucky Dip wheel will be gratefully accepted. It is a night for all the family so please come along and support.


Lucy Casey and the Casey family, Ballagh, wish to sincerely thank everyone for their congratulations, prayers and well wishes on the occasion of Lucy’s Baptism, Confirmation and First Holy Communion at the Easter Vigil.


Newtowncashel Fine Gael Branch held their AGM on Tuesday night April 26th in “The Hill” There was a large turnout of members present. Deputy James Bannon was unavoidably absent. The mood was upbeat after a great General Election result. Councillor Sean Farrell thanked all who supported Fine Gael in the recent General Election. At local level Sean informed the meeting of the local roads to be attended to in 2011. A vote of sympathy was passed with all who had suffered bereavements in the past year. The following officers were elected for the coming year: Chairperson – Jimmy Costello, Vice-Chairperson - Seamus Flynn, Secretary – Richard Farrell, Treasurers – Jimmy Rowan and Sean Skelly, Organiser – Theresa Costello, PRO – John Farrell.



Sports day will be on Friday the 20th May starting at 5.30pm sharp and finishing at no later than 7.30pm. The first events will be in the Under-16 category. Anyone with unwanted medals can donate them for reuse to any member of the committee in the next two weeks.

All those interested in taking part in the swimming competitions please give their name to our Secretary, Emma Murray (086)8654711, as soon as possible. All competitors must be able to swim two lengths of the pool.

Tag Rugby training continues at the GAA pitch at 12.30pm after football training.

Please continue to collect Tesco School Vouchers and drop them in to any member of the committee or to the local shop L&K. Vouchers will be available until the 8th of May.

The next Community Games Committee Games meeting will be on Thursday 12th May at 8pm.


The First Communion children and their parents participate in the liturgy on Sunday week, May 8th, the Third Sunday of Easter.


The Junior Choir will hold a practice in the Church on Saturday 7th from 5.30 – 6.30pm in preparation for Do This in Memory.

GAA coaching for children of all ages continues every Sunday morning at 11.30am in Páirc Ciarán. All are welcome


The Annual Pioneer Outing takes place on Wednesday July 20th, travelling to Armagh. In addition to Armagh City, with its two cathedrals, the tour will include Navan Fort, Eamhain Mhacha, and Loughgall, birthplace of the Orange Order. The cost is 40 euro, payable when booking. This charge includes coach hire, driver/guide, morning coffee, admission to designated places of interest. It does not include lunch and dinner which are at the discretion of individuals. Badminton continues in “The Hill” on Thursday nights at 9.00pm. New players are always welcome!


The Toddler Group will resume activities in “The Hill” on Tuesday morning, May 3rd, from 9.30 – 11.30am. All are welcome!
