DINNER DANCE - Saturday night last was a great night in the history of the Ballymore club as they held their dinner dance in the Pikers Lodge in Gowna. A great crowd attended and enjoyed the nights proceedings at which the 1980 jinior championship winning team were honoured and the 2010 division 2 winners were presented with their medals.
Special guests included Frankie Dolan and his wife Caroline, Jimmy Fox and Pat Cahill from the county Board and they were joined by Fr.Simon and Fr.Tom and former Killeen school principal Brendan O Byrne and his wife Bridie.
Frankie presented the 1980 team with their trophies and Pat Cahill presented the division 2 medals and both Jimmy Fox and the 1980 captain Jimmy Reilly entertained the crowd with their very witty speeches.
Following the presentations Noel Cassidy got the crowd to their feet and a great night of dancing was had by all.
Congratulatios to Francis Brennan who was voted club man of the year and also Damien Monaghan who was announced as the player of the year.The club wish to thank all who attended the dance and all who sponsored spot prizes for the raffle and the management of the hotel for their great hospitality.
Ballymore GAA will hold their monthly draw in McElvaney’s on Sunday night next and all promoters and patrons are asked to take note.

THE LATE SEAN BURKE
Shock, saddness and genuine regret was felt throughout the area when the news became known that Sean Burke of Springtown had died suddenely on Wednesday last. Sean or Fred as he was known as was son of Tom and Sheila Burke formerely of Rathbracken and he would have celebrated his 30th birthday this year.Sean was a popular young man and he will be sadly missed by his heartbroken parents,brother Mark sister Claire, daughter Kasie, friend Niamh along with his uncles and aunts and extended family. Huge crowds attended his wake in the family home in Springtown and his removal to St. Mary’s in Granard on Saturday evening and again at the funeral Mass on Sunday morning after which he was laid to rest in Granardkille cemetery.May he rest in peace and may his family be comforted at this sad time.
