STREETE BOWLS

This was a busy week for the Streete bowls club. The A team travelled to Castlepollard on Wednesday last. It took a late rally for Streete to draw with a final score of two and a half points each. The Streete B team travelled to Tyrrellspass on Thursday night. They showed their more experienced opponents the way.

They came away with a four to one victory sending out a clear message that they are not going to be the whipping boys of the league! A Team 1: Jimmy Leavy, Phyllis Martin, Martin Gaynor and Finbar Mullen. Team 2: Michael Turner, Enda Murphy, Sean Flood and Bill Harvey. Sub. used Jimmy Kelly. B Team 1: Patsy Skelly, Tom Connell, Seamus Moran and Pat Kelly. Team 2: Eamon Carthy, Bill Bennett, Thomas Sullivan and Jimmy Kelly. Congratulations to Thomas Sullivan and Pat Kelly who played the bowls of their lives in the doubles final in Ballymore last Sunday. After an exhilarating contest they were just pipped at the post.

The singles competition started last week and there have been some great games so far. The ladies only competition will be held on Sunday 6th March in Streete Sports Complex. More details next week. We extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to join our club.
