DARTS - The first semi-final of the Francis McGirl Memorial Cup Competition takes place this Friday night the 25th of February in the Commercial Hotel. The semi-finalist are Shortt’s (A) V Fenagh, starting time is 10.30pm sharp. The second semi-final is Friday night the 4th of March in Drumcoura. The two teams involved in that are last year’s winners McGirl’s V Jackie’s again starting time is 10.30pm.
Ballinamore Pike Anglers fished for the Richie Cowdall Plastering Trophy on Laura Lake on Sunday 20th February. 1st John Creamer 18lbs 11ozs pike, 2nd Bob O’Callaghan 17lb 15ozs pike, 3rd Mick Crosby 16lb 12ozs pike. We are now half way through the season and the league leaders are: 1st John Creamer 26pts, 2nd Joint Dave Crosby & Mick Crosby 24pts each, 3rd Barry Taylor 23pts, 4th Tony Gallagher 18pts. John A tops the pole and may give angling lessons for the not so skilled members in future months.

Leitrim CDB is hosting a FREE Training and Further Education Opportunities Expo and Seminar on Thursday, March 3rd, Landmark Hotel, Carrick on Shannon from 10.30am to 4.30pm. Open to everyone but particularly geared to people who are unemployed wishing to see what training/education options and possible supports or jobs are open to them. Speakers will include Sean Gallagher, Dragons Den, Mairead Fleming, The Apprentice. Local agencies and colleges will be in attendance for one-one advice.

On Monday next all underage medals won in 2010 will be presented in the clubrooms at a function starting at 9.00. This will include the medals to winning boys under 14 championship and league teams, Under 16 Championship as well as the Girls U12, U14 and minor winning teams. COMPANY PLAN 2011-2013
Leitrim Development Company is currently undertaking a consultation process for its next three year plan for the Local and Community Development Programme, covering the years 2011-2013 inclusive. As part of this work, the company is consulting with people and communities throughout the county, during the month of February. Public Consultation Meeting will take place in Ballinamore Community Centre, on Thursday, 24th February 2011 at 8.00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.
POST PRIMARY PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION
The next meeting in respect of the above will be held on Tuesday 1st March at 9.00pm in St. Felim’s. Among the items for discussion will be an update on the new school, subjects for the Leaving Cert. and Transition Year.
If there is sufficient interest a training group will be put together for women who hope to take part in the June Bank Holiday Monday Dublin Womens’ Mini Marathon and other similar events. Well done to all who took part in the first Leitrim Primary Schools Sports Hall Athletics in Ballinamore Sports Hall last Wednesday and particularly the Ballinamore Girls School which won the 3/4th Class Competition. Club Members are competing in AAI Senior Indoors in Belfast this weekend.
Season tickets are now on sale for the 30th Annual Drama Festival which takes place from 6th to 13th March. The tickets, costing just e40 for the eight nights of competitive drama, can be purchased from Ciaran Smyth’s or from any committee member.

Thanks to everybody who have recycled clothing through our recycling bank. Since Christmas it has raised over e215 much needed funds for our school and it also helps as part of our Green Flag Project. The bank is at the front of the Boys NS and clothing can be placed in it at any time. The company come out every month, empty it and pay us. Your continued support is much appreciated.

BLOOD DONOR CLINIC
The Blood Transfusion mobile unit team will return again to The Community Centre, Ballinamore on Monday 28th February, 2011 from 3.00 p.m. to 4.45 p.m and 7.00p.m. to 9.30 p.m. Some 3000 units (pints) of blood are needed overall each week to cater for emergency and routine cases requiring transfusions of blood and blood products in hospitals all over the country. Thanks to everyone who attended the last clinic and please come again to the Community Centre, Ballinamore on Monday 28th February.

The exhibition opens on Friday next Feb 25th at 7.30pm and as usual there will be wine, cheese and other refreshments on the night. This upcoming show, ‘Cailleach Feasa’, is a Solo Exhibition by Maria Noonan-McDermott.
