GAA: On Friday night last Arva defeated Drung by 3 points in the Quarter Final of the Hotel Kilmore Intermediate Football Championship in Kingspan Breffni Park on a score of Arva 0-18 Drung 3-6. This was a tough test for the winners as Drung used all their experience to contain them and while they did score 18 points it must be said that Drung were in the game up to the long whistle. When 5 extra minutes were announced the Arva supporters worried but the players done enough to win. Jonathan McCabe opened the scoring with a great point in the first minute following a great run of over 50 yards. Kevin Bouchier added another in the 3rd minute and Ciaran Brady made it 0-3 after 12 mins. When Bouchier added his second it seemed as if the winners were humming. Drung opened their account in the 17th min but Conal Sheridan replied with a free 2 mins later. Drung then got a goal and a point in as many minutes to level the scores. McCabe responded for the winners but Drung again equalised. Ciaran Cooney gave Arva the lead in the 31st min but Drung hit the Arva net in the 33rd min to leave them ahead at the break 2-3 to 0-7. Worse was to come after the break as Drung hit the net again just 20 seconds after the restart to put them 5 points clear. McCabe hit his 3rd point for Arva a minute later but again Drung replied in the 5th min. This was to be their last score until the 29th minute as the winners hit 10 points in a row through Shane Hamilton (6 min) Sheridan (10 / 11/ 18 / 27 min) Peter Morris (13 min), Thomas Brady / Ciaran Brady (both 23 min), Mc Cabe (23 min), Bouchier (25 min) to take their tally to 0-18 . Drung had the last scores of the game with points in the 29th and 34th mins. Arva team & Scorers – Shane McEntee, Danny Ellis, James Morris, Paul Bouchier, Thomas Brady (0-1), Ciaran Brady (0-2), Cormac McCabe, Cian Sheridan, Fergal Mc Glade, Conor Mc Entee, Kevin Bouchier (0-3), Peter Morris (0-1), Jonathan Mc Cabe (0-4), Conal Sheridan (0-5), Ciaran Cooney (0-1).
