We have two events taking p;ace in Granard Library in July for children. On Tuesday 14th Under 8 year olds can look forward to Bunnyhop with Chris at 2p.m. One week later on Tuesday 21st also at 2p.m. Paint a Summer Picture with Nicolette will take place for 8-12 year olds. Best wishes to our U 13 boys basketball team who travel to Kildare on this Saturday 4th July in Leinster Semi- Finals / Finals. Team members are Brian Masterson, Conor Leonard, Ciaran Scanlon, Eoin Kelly, Cian Oâ€™ Reilly, Matthew Quinn, Tommy Corcoran and Caylon Lynch. We compliment their coaches Irene and Dean on bringing them to this stage of the competition.
The annual Rosie Run in aid of Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) will take place from Loch Gowna on Sunday, 19th July commencing at 1.30p.m. We appeal to all to come out and support this worthy cause.
Our sympathy is extended to Mary Reilly, Toome on the death of her mother Mary Farley, Aughamore Upper which occurred at The Laurel Lodge, Nursing Home on Sunday 21st June. In failing health for some time Mary passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She is also survived by her sons John, Gerry, Eugene, Raymond and Ciaran, daughters Julie Murphy, Deirdre Fannin and Catherine Macken, sisters Tessie Reilly ( Carrigallen), Bridie Silcox (Leeds) and Shelia Cassidy (U.S.A.), sons-in- law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces to whom our condolences are also extended. May she rest in peace.
We remind all in the village that adjudication for this yearâ€™s tidy towns competition will take place in the coming weeks. It is important to keep weeds and hedges under control. All are requested to be conscious of litter in the village and on the approach roads to the village. Your support in this area would be very much appreciated.
There will be two fun-filled, multi-activity sports camps at Mullinalaghta football pitch this Summer. Camp 1 is for 4-7 year olds and is running from Monday 10th to Friday 14th August each day from 10.30am â€“ 2.30pm. Camp 2 will cater for 8-12 year olds and will be in operation from Monday 17th August â€“ Friday 21th August from 10.00am â€“ 3.00pm. Activities include a variety of sports but also other events such as Balloon Races, Treasure Hunt, Art, Crafts, Bouncy Castle and many more. Cost of either camp is â‚¬50 per child with 2nd, 3rd, 4th child only â‚¬40. All children will be fully covered by insurance for everything taking place. Congratulations are extended to Orsola Denning and Damien Tweedy on the birth of their second child, a baby boy to be named Jonathan and welcome brother for James. This happy event took place at Cavan General Hospital on Monday, 22nd June. We are delighted to report that mother and newborn are in excellent health.
