Community Games

Best of luck to our three teams in the Leinster semi-finals and finals this Saturday, 4th July in Newbridge. They have been training and working so hard for this day with their dedicated trainers Tom McManus, Kevin Dooner, Mark Leonard, James Bracken and Mervyn Leonard. Buses leave at 8.15am outside the Church in Ennybegs. Here are the details of the day’s matches: 10.30am - U12 Outdoor Soccer Killoe v Clane/Rathcoffey taking place in Newbridge Town FC and the final is at 2.30pm. At 2pm U-13 Indoor Soccer Killoe v Celbridge played at Patrician Secondary school, Newbridge, final at 4.30pm. Then finally at 3.45pm U-15 Futsal Killoe v Lucan again in Newbridge Town FC and the final is at 5.15pm. Go n-éirí an t-ádh libh.

Big festival

Well all roads will lead you to the very promising Longford festival event being held in Connolly Barracks, Longford from Friday 3 – Sunday 5 July 2015 with a host of enterprises on your door step. Live music nightly in a large marquee from 8pm – 2am. Admission 20 euro with full bar facilities. Saturday and Sunday 11am – 6pm food village, fashion, home and garden, childrens activities plus a host of other attractions. Admission 5 euro/ 3 euro children, senior citizens this includes use of all facilities. We wish all the committee including our Killoe man, Frank Kiernan Jnr good luck with this event with all proceeds in aid of St Christopher’s and the Attic Club, Longford.


Congratulations to Aaron Fitzpatrick, son of Pat and Nuala, Lettergunnell on securing a permanent teaching position in Knocklyon primary school, Dublin. The parish extend good wishes to Aaron and his families and hope you have many successful years in leading your youth through their education venture.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the Farley families, Aughamore, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford. Julie Murphy, (nee Farley) and families, Cornedan, Killoe, Reilly, Fannin and Macken families on the sad bereavement of their mother, Mary (nee Duffy) and predeceased by her husband Eugene) who was laid to rest last week. The parish express condolence to her sons Eugene, John Gerard, Ciaran, Raymond, daughters Julie (Murphy), Mary (Reilly), Catherine (Macken), Deirdre (Fannin), sisters Tessie, Bridie (UK), Sheila (USA), sisters in law, sons/daughters in law, grandchildren, extended families, neighbours, friends. Requiem mass was celebrated in St Colmcille’s Church, Aughnacliffe with burial in adjoining cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Church notes

St Mary’s Ennybegs, Masses Wednesday/Thursday/ Friday at 10am. Exposition blessed sacrament in both churches Wednesday 6 – 9pm. First Friday holy communion calls on Thursday/ Friday in usual order. Collectors July Saturday – Brendan Bracken/ Noel Devaney, Sunday Robert Browne/ Mattie Clarke. St Oliver’s Cullyfad - Mass Friday at 8pm. We thank Fr Casey for a tranquil peaceful mass and blessings in our cemeteries at the weekend. Everyone for their voluntary service including Mikie Jo Campbell for invaluable assistance throughout the year. Frank Kiernan, son Paddy and team for repainting and cleaning of cross, supply of chairs, gazebo and all other amenities to facilitate the service. All plot holders for their continuous attention to their graves and valued respect for the maintenance and upkeep of same. And thank everyone including those who were unable to attend but contributed to the collection. In grateful appreciation and thank God we were blessed with weather conditions.

The annual tea and coffee event will be held on Saturday 4/ Sunday 5 July in Ennybegs Community Centre, Killoe after Saturday evening and Sunday morning masses. All support will be greatly appreciated.

New baby

Congratulations to Ronan and Orlaith, (nee Toher) O’Hara, Glasheen, Drumlish on the recent birth of a bouncy baby boy. The parish extend good wishes to the proud parents, grandparents Frank and Ann Toher, Brien and Mary O’Hara, extended families, friends for a future filled with great health and happiness and lots of early nights.
