The warm weather continued on Sunday, June 21st when the Ramblers walked out and back from Streete village to the Inny Bridge where the Dublin to Sligo railway line crosses the River Inny at Derradd. The 8km walk took about two hours and for part of the return leg the group took to the bog where the ground was much softer underfoot. Thank you to Alice Nerney who provided the sandwiches and cakes in the Fiddlers Green pub after the walk and the pub staff who provided the tea. On July 5th the Ramblers will visit Edenmore Bog, Ballinamuck, for a two hour loop walk which will be a mix of bog track and roads. Walking boots are advised. The Ramblers will be joined by a group from Longford Sports Partnership as part of their Longford Walking Series. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm. Otherwise meet at the petrol station on the Drumlish road just off the Longford by-pass at the Red Cow roundabout at 2pm. The Ramblers website at www.boherquillramblers.ie has details of the Club’s activities and photos of recent walks and weekends away.
