Lotto: The Arva Football Club Lotto draw was held in the Clubrooms on Tuesday, 14th April 2015. The Jackpot was €8,400. Numbers drawn - 2 / 4 / 5 / 9 – no winner. €50 each – Cian Sheridan, Hollybank. Paul Óg Mulligan, Forthill. Iris Halliday, Cormore. The Jackpot on Tuesday night last 21st April was €8,450. Lotto Envelopes can be left in the Letterbox in St Patrick’s Hall next to the National School for collection on Monday evenings and everyone is welcome to attend the draw. The club have an option of paying by direct debit for anyone wishing to join the LOTTO and give the club much needed support. Contact any club officer or check out the club website On Saturday last Arva travelled to Mullagh to play the home side and after a tough contest they emerged victorious on a score Arva 1-10 Cuchullains 1-9. Arva got a great start and led by 3 points to nil after 6 minutes through Thomas Brady (3 min), Conal Sheridan (4 min) and James Morris (6 min). The home side struck back immediately and hit the front in the next 2 minutes with a goal and a point. Conal Sheridan hit 3 points for Arva to put them back in front by 2 points by the 12th minute but back came the home side again with 3 points to take the lead in the 18th minute. Thomas Brady levelled the scores a minute later while Peter Morris hit the net in the 23rd minute to put Arva 3 clear. Cuchullains had the last score of the half with a point in the 28th minute to leave it Arva 1-7 Cuchullains 1-5 at the break. Scores were at a premium in the second half with the home side levelling the scores with points in the 4th and 15th minutes. Arva then had points from Sheridan (20th / 21st mins) and Jonathan Mc Cabe 24th minute to put them 3 points ahead. As the visitors hang on for victory Cuchullains had the last 2 scores in the 28th and 29th minutes. On this Sunday Arva will have Denn as visitors to Michael Cully Park at 12.30 pm (check time due to Confirmation in Arva). This will be another step up for Arva as Denn are a seasoned squad and will be favourites for this game.


Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 27th May to 1st June and Bookings for the Pilgrim Section should be made through the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Cullies, Cavan. Sympathy is extended to Mrs Maureen Brady, Main Street, Arva on the death of her brother Mr Patrick (Packie) Reynolds, Anagarron, Granard which occurred at Mullingar General Hospital on Friday, 3rd April (Good Friday). His remains were removed from Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, Longford to St Mary’s Church Carra, Granard and following Requiem Mass burial took place in the adjoining cemetery

St Patrick’s Hall

A meeting was held in the hall on Wednesday night last to discuss the plans for the restoration of the hall. The hall has been a focal point for the community since it was built – with much voluntary labour in 1954 – and it’s great to see that it is going to be refurbished.


Confirmation will take place in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Arva on Sunday next 26th April at 3pm. when Rev Sean Mawn, Vicar Foran will impart the Sacrament to the children of the Parish of Killeshandra.

St. Mary’s NS - Centenary

The book Committee are currently looking for old photos, stories, poems and memories from past pupils of the school. They are also looking for names of past pupils who became priests or nuns over the years. If you can help in any way, please contact the school on 049-4335560.

Gentle exercises and Craft’s continue in St Patrick’s Hall every Tuesday at 10.00 am. New members welcome. Social Evening

Gowna Church of Ireland invite you to join them for a Social evening of music, song and dance on Saturday, 2nd May from 9:00pm until late in Gowna Community Centre.
