Scoil Samhthann will hold enrolment for children starting school for Autumn 2015 from Monday, February 9th to Wednesday, February 18th.  Please contact the school on 043 3323333 for enrolment forms.

Clonbroney Community Games 

Community Games County Quiz has been rescheduled for Friday, 6th March in The Park House, Edgeworthstown at 7pm. Teams of  Boys/ Girls/Mixed U14. Panel of 6 (4 Players + 2 Substitute). Please contact Grainne Lynch 086 3891754 if you are available and interested in participating. Well done to the boys U15 badminton team who reached the final on Friday night in Edgeworthstown Community Centre. In the semi-final, they met a strong Edgeworthstown team. It was an extremely exciting and tense semi-final but Clonbroney eventually emerged victorious. The team went on to meet Killoe in the final. Unfortunately, it was not to be Clonbroney’s night and Killoe emerged victorious. The team were presented with their silver medals by Mr.Cathal Kelly. Congratulations to the team – Evan Tully, Seán Farrell, Killian Reynolds, Ronan Reehill and Aaron Blessington. A big thank you to John Farrell who trained the team. Congratulations to the winners of the handwriting competition. In the U10 girls: 1st-Ciara Heaney, 2nd-Shauna McGrath, 3rd-Elaine Tully. In the U10 boys: 1st-Michael Murphy, 2nd-Oran Gallagher, 3rd-Eric Brady. In the U12 girls: 1st-Emily Reilly, 2nd-Brownyn Webb, Joint 3rd-Tara Spollen & Bronagh Rawle. In the U12 boys: 1st-Eoghan Carrigy, 2nd:John Rawle, 3rd:James Fox. The first two in each category will now take part in the handwriting county final in Ballymahon. A big thank you to the staff of  Scoil Samhthann  who ran the competition in the school. 


Sean Connolly’s AGM takes place on Friday the 13th February at 8pm in the clubhouse at Maguire Park and not on the date previously published. Members will receive nomination forms by the weekend. Mass for the deceased members of the club takes this Friday at 8pm in St. James’ Clonbroney. 

Tea Party

In the Stag’s Head on Valentine’s night, 14th February. There is music from the Ramblers. Anyone who would like to host a table for the night can contact Carmel Reynolds 086 2489948. Food will be provided for all tables and tickets are €10. There will also be a raffle with spot prizes, including a Valentine’s cake donated by Ashleigh from Tasty Cakes. All proceeds go towards Friend’s of Chernobyl. 

GAA Membership

Membership for Sean Connolly’s GAA Club is now due. Cost is €30 per adult or €50 per couple. Those using the facilities who pay membership are covered by insurance in the event of an accident. Those who do not pay membership and continue to use the facilities are not covered by insurance.

Longford Carers Association

Show your love for family carers this Valentine’s week at the Longford Carers Association tea/coffee morning, which takes place on Thursday 12th February from 10am to 1pm in tthe Family Centre, St. Mel’s Road, Longford.

Wedding Bells

The wedding took place recently of Louise, daughter of Gene and Breda Farrelly, Lislea and Shane Prunty, Ballinamuck. The marriage was celebrated by Fr. Brian Brennan, con-celebrated by Fr. Patsy McDermott and Rev. Seamus O’Rourke. The bridesmaids were Orla and Lorraine Farrelly, Niamh Duffy and Emma O’Rourke. The groomsmen were Mark, Philip and Gary Prunty. All the guests enjoyed a beautiful meal in the Kilmore in Cavan and celebrations continued well into the night. We wish them both a lifetime of health and happiness. 

St. Mel’s

Hard luck to St. Mel’s senior football team, who were defeated by Good Council, New Ross in the Leinster Colleges Senior A final. Joseph Heaney, Curraghcahill, is a member of the team. 

Church collection

The Lourdes Sick Pilgrims Fund collection will be made after Communion at the vigil and 11am masses next weekend. Please support
