New baby

Congratulations to Brian and Breege Brady, Aughakilmore on the birth of their fourth baby-a girl last week.The new arrival is a welcome sister for Caoimhe, Kayleigh and Hollie.

Senior Scor

Following the very successful launch on Saturday night last in Creegan’s Ballymore GFC will present DE KUBE in The Longford Arms Hotel on February 28th  starting at 8pm.This very popular show with a 3000 uro prizefund is sure to provide a great nights entertainment and with music by the very popular Busy Fingers Band, this is a night out not to be missed. 18 Birthday

Congratulations to Leon Fagan, Killeen who celebrated his 18th birthday with a lovely party in McElvaney’s, Coolarty on Saturday night last. Leon is son of Colm and Valerie and he is the most promising young golfer in the county so we wish him many more celebrations both on and of the course.

Tractor run

The annual tractor run will be held in the Bunlahy Area on March 15th next with all proceeds going to a number of local charities so watch this space and mark March 15th in your calendar.


We offer sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Mr. Jimmy Mulligan, formerly of Bunlahy who has died in England recently. Funeral arrangements will be announced later and his ashes will be interred in the family plot in Granardkille cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Country markets

Granard country markets held their annual general meeting in the Greville Arms Hotel on Friday morning last and the following officers were elected for the coming year. Chairperson: Maggie Norton, Secretary: Angela Durkin, Treasurer: Alan Harrison, PRO: Eileen Kilbride, Controller: Breege Mulfaul. To celebrate St. Valentines day there will be a free raffle for all customers on Friday next. There will be Valentines cards, gifts and cakes on sale along with the usual products and the market is open from 8-30am to 11-00am on upper main street beside the Post Office.

Best wishes to Sean Berry, Dring and Aisling Clarke, Castlenugent who both leave this week for Australia. We wish you well and look forward to seeing you home again in the future.
