Edwina Guckian is organising Sean Nos classes for children in Cullyfad Community Centre, Killoe. Theme by Lillie Gossley as part of “Sean Nos at an tsionann”. Classes commence on Tuesday, 17 February 2015 at 7pm. Cost 5 euro per class. Further information contact Edwina tel 086 1649989.


Well yes! Romance is surely in the air this week so as an extra additive why not show a little love for family carers by dropping in at the Longford Carers Association tea/coffee morning on Thursday, 12 February 2015 from 10am – 1pm. Venue the Family Centre St Mel’s Road, Longford. Everyone is very welcome and we wish everyone a loving romantic Valentines day!


Ennybegs Community Centre bingo every Friday at 8.30pm. Total prize monies over 1800 euro on the night.

New baby

Congratulations to Paul and Linda Frain, (nee Callaghan, Rhyne, Killoe), Rathfarnham, Dublin on the birth of a bonny baby girl and adoring friend for sibling Megan. The parish extend good wishes to the proud parents, grandparents, sister Megan extended families friends for a future of great health and happiness. Welcome baby Alana to the community. Deo Gratias.

Esker Hall

The centenary commemoration project re Esker Hall, Clontumpher, Killoe following a public meeting last week advise progress is now in motion to carry out the proposal plan to develop the above site as a local historical landmark. A committee is now formed to oversee the project plus a working committee to carry out the site works. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday February 18 2015 in Ennybegs Community Centre Killoe at 8.30pm. Plans for project can be seen at church door in St Mary’s, Ennybegs.

Community Games

Congratulations to our U13 Boys Indoor Soccer Team and their manager Mark Leonard. The team were victorious in the County Final with a five to nil win over Ardagh in the final. The boys will continue their training to hopefully get a good start in the first round of the Leinster games. A big thank you to Michelle Tully and Martina Reynolds for their support to the indoor soccer management and teams. Congratulations to the U-10 Girls Soccer Team who won silver medals at the County Finals. Thanks to John Hughes who put in so much hard work managing the team. Well done to the U10 Boys Indoor Soccer Team who were beaten in a hard fought semi final on Saturday last. Much appreciation to Aidan Keogh and Alan Reynolds for all their hard work in managing the team. Congratulations and well done to our U11 Tag Rugby Team who won the County Final 10-6 against Ardagh. Hard luck to our U14 team who were beaten by Carrickedmond in the final minute of a hard fought semi-final. Thanks to the managers Eugene Larkin and Turlough Farrelly for their hard work and also to Maureen Eivers, Michelle Tully and Anne Harte for their help and support to the managers. The County Handwriting Final was held recently in St. Matthews N.S. Ballymahon. Congratulations to Sarah Ivel who came 3rd in the U10 Girls category. Well done and thanks to Sarah, Mia, Paul, Terry, Laoise Mei, Aoife and Stephen for participating. Thanks also to their parents for attending with them and for all their support. Please note that the Community Games County Quiz has been rescheduled to Friday night the 6th of March at 7pm in The Park House Hotel in Edgeworthstown. Best of luck to Mark Leonard and the U13 Boys Futsal teams who will play their first round match this week. Also best of luck to the U11 Mixed, U13 Boys and U13 Girls Basketball teams who play their first round matches over the coming weeks.
