Coffee Morning

Show your love for family carers this Valentine’s week at the Longford Carers Association tea/coffee morning, Thursday 12th of February from 10am to 12pm in the Family Centre, St Mel’s Road, Longford.


Lotto results for weekend, numbers drawn were 7, 25, 28, 30. There were no winners on the main draw. Lucky dip winners as follows - Sandra Mulligan, Crott, Bernadette Reilly, Smear; Maya Murtagh, Rathmore and Ann McNeill, Moyne. Play lotto in any off the local shops or pubs, also you can purchase yearly lotto for €100 or half yearly for €50. With yearly lotto tickets you are entered into the draw for 52 weeks and also club membership by which your automatically in the draw for All Ireland tickets come September. The club is currently running a major fund raising draw that will take place St Patrick’s day. Tickets will be on sale shortly and club personal will be calling door to door in the next few weeks. Prizes are as follows 1st €1000 worth of flights, 2nd €500, 3rd €300 worth of firewood, 4th and 5th €200, 6th €100 worth briquettes, 7th €100 worth of fuel. Please support.

Upcoming coaching courses

Foundation Award Football Course (1 Day) Saturday, 14th February in Edgeworthstown Community Campus (behind Primary School) from 10am to 4pm. Foundation Award Football Course (2 Nights) Wednesday, 18th February and Tuesday, 24th February in St. Mel’s College Sports Hall from 7pm to 10pm both nights. In order to get the Foundation qualification participants must complete the Code of Ethics Course as well. Code of Ethics & Best Practice in Sport (1 Night) Monday, 2nd March in Longford Slashers Clubroom from 7pm to 10pm. The cost of these courses are as follows:

Foundation Award €15 per person which covers both the Foundation and the Code of Ethics. Foundation Award €5 if a person produces their Code of Ethics cert. Code of Ethics €10 per person. Anybody interested in taking part please contact Brendan Reilly 0860458301.

A baby girl

Best wishes to David and Claire Brennan, Fostra on the birth of their baby daughter recently. The little girl is to be called Amy and is a very welcome grand- daughter for Mrs Ann Murtagh, Fostra. We wish David, Claire and baby Amy, health and happiness.

Best of luck to Nathan Brady who on Saturday next will be bidding to become All-Ireland champion in the finals in City West Dublin. Nathan is competing in the solo-singing and we wish you all the best young man. Referee Recruitment

Are you interested in becoming a referee? Think you can do better? Then

“Put your whistle where your mouth is” and “Become a GAA Referee”! How do I become a Referee? The first thing to do, is to contact your local Referee Administrator or Recruitment Officer who will give you details on upcoming GAA Referee Foundation Course in your local area, which you will have to complete before you can referee games. Art Classes
