It is with profound sorrow I report the death of Geoff Wilson following a tragic accident within yards of his own home last weekend. Geoff had a fall and slipped into a drain at the side of the road which was water logged. The ambulance, paramedics and Garda were present at the scene of the accident and sadly Geoff was pronounced dead. As I write these notes no funeral arrangements are available. Geoff who was a very quiet and inoffensive man was predeceased by his father, Christy and is survived by his mother, Maureen whom he lived with and is also survived by his brother, Paul who lives in England. May Geoff rest in peace. The Streete Parish Park AGM was cancelled as a mark of respect from the Community.
Of Streete Parish Park was to have taken place last Sunday evening and due to the tragic accident has been postponed until Friday week, 12th December at 8.30p.m. in the Centre when we trust as many as can will support us with their presence on the night and we genuinely regret any inconvenience caused. Remember whoever is elected will make up the committee of the Parish Park Complex for the next three years so support is very necessary.

The Westmeath League is on hold until after Christmas. Eight Streete pairs travelled to Ardagh on Sunday, 23rd. November to participate in the Westmeath Doubles competition. After a great evening’s bowling the following pairs qualified for the semi-finals: From Streete- Jimmy Kelly and Sean Flood, Mick Turner and Jimmy Leavy. From Ardagh- Dermot Farrell and Danny Keenan . From Tyrrellspass - Mick Lynch and Kevin Crummy. The Ardagh pair overcame Mick and Jimmy whilst Mick Lynch and Kevin Crummy beat Jimmy and Sean. The end result was a final between Ardagh and Tyrrellspass. The final was a spectacular match. After eight ends the teams were locked at four shots each. It went down to the last bowl with Danny Keenan’s brilliant effort just beaten by the narrowest of margins .We are making good progress with our Christmas doubles competition. Hopefullu we will have the groups finished by next week.. We wish a speedy recovery to the president of the club Don Heard from his illness. New members and visiting bowlers are always welcome at the club.
The Ramblers had a very pleasant walk in Rathowen Bog on Sunday, November 23rd. No turf has been saved in the bog recently so the peace in the bog was heightened by the slightly overgrown track and the faint sound of traffic on the N4 in the distance. The sun was sinking lower so there was a distinct chill in the air as the group enjoyed their tea and biscuits at the end of the walk. On Sunday, December 7th the Ramblers will visit Kilbixy near Ballynacargy for a 6km walk on forest tracks and roads. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm and meet in Kilbixy at 2pm. The Ramblers will hold their Christmas Party in the Hotel Castlepollard on Sunday, December 14th. There will be a walk first, starting at 2pm in the Square in Castlepollard and the meal will begin at around 4pm. The charge this year is €20 each and those who would like to join the Party are asked to contact Brian Nerney by text at 086 2596656 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible to ascertain numbers. Donations for the raffle are welcome. Details of the Ramblers activities can be found at www.boherquillramblers.ie with items of interest to Club members and a gallery of photographs of Club outings.
