Ballinamuck community Christmas Party: The Ballinamuck Senior Citizens Christmas party will take place on the 7th of December 2014 from 2.30 until 6.30pm. All members of the community are invites to attend after 5pm. Anyone wishing to entertain on the day please contact Mary Breslin on 0861777294.

The Bridge: The bridge in the village got a great face lift in recent weeks and are delighted with the result. A big thank you to Brendan Larkin, Darren Quinn, Chris Pryce, Johnny McGee who volunteer their time and materials to do the stone work as their contribution towards the village enhancement. Alot of time and effort went into getting the stone ready but it was worth it. Also a big thank you to Charlie Sorahan for donating the stone, Peter Gill for the use of his machine and Peter Dillon’s Bar for supplying the boys with the breakfast the two mornings. Well done to everyone involved.

Table Quiz: Thank you to all those who supported our table quiz in Dillon’s last week, thank you to Peter and Margaret for the use of the premises, refreshments and donation. Thank you to all the groups who sponsored tables. Thank you to the Families and individuals who bought tables and brought spot prizes. Many thanks to the winning teams who donated their winnings to the event. A big thank you to all the helpers on the night. All proceeds are going directly to the costs of flights for the 2015 twinning in Essert .

Social Services

The annual church gate collection for county Longford Social Services will be held on Saturday and Sunday the 20th and 21st of December. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Switching on of the Christmas Lights.

The switching on of the Christmas lights will take place on Friday the 5th after 8pm Mass. The adult and children’s choir will both be singing carols during Mass and all are reminded to attend. Well done to all the choirs and volunteers for organising the lights.

Fundraising Quiz

The Christmas Lights Fundraising Quiz will take place after the switching on of the lights in the Olde Village Inn at 9.30pm. Table of 4 €40. Your support is greatly needed and appreciated.

Strictly Come Dancing

Preparations are well under way as Gaels Utd FC host the very popular “Strictly Come Dancing” as part of its fundraising drive. The big night takes place on Saturday night December 27th at Drumlish Community Centre and our couples have been working very hard learning their steps and moves for your entertainment !! There will be a particularly festive feel to the night including a full bar and it promises to be one of the big local highlights over the Christmas period. Tickets will be on sale very shortly and your support would be greatly welcomed. A draw (including a Samsung TV worth €1200) will take place on the night. Car boot

Drumlish Village & Area Enhancemennt are gathering for their next Car Boot Sale and would welcome any toys, teddys or re-cyclable seasonal items that you no longer have use for. One person’s waste could be treasure for another - Contact Dympna at 087 397 7799.

Fitness Centre

If you are currently looking for a Fitness Class but don’t know where to start, why don’t you join us here in the Fitness Centre. We run group classes every Monday at 8pm & Wednesday & Friday at 7pm in Monaduff Gym beside the football pitch. Membership/Insurance costs €20 for the year (unbelievable value) and then the cost of the class is €6 per session or we do monthly prices too.  We are looking for members with all fitness types. Will local Wedding go to plan? 
Drumlish Cemetery Limited is presenting a Mock Wedding on Friday, December 12th in the Community Centre followed by a Wedding Reception Party in The Porter House. Rehearsals and preparations are now in full swing with a fantastic local cast, for what promises to be a great night of comedy and entertainment.  The show will be opened by the children of St Mary’s NS and will be closed with a couple of numbers from our local chorus line.  This will definitely be a night not to be missed, so put the date in your diary now. 

School Concert.

The students of Moyne Community School are proud to present Nicholas McDonald (X-Factor runner up 2013), Jordon O’Keefe (Britain’s Got Talent finalist) and comedian MC Fabu D live in concert in the school gym on this Thursday the 4th of December. There will also be a host of local talent drawn from all years throughout the school. On the day their will be two concerts to meet the demand one at 1.30pm and 7.30pm. All proceeds will go to St Christopher’s services, Longford. Your support will be greatly appreciated for what will be a great night’s entertainment.

Youth 2000 Retreat

Youth 2000 Ireland are hosting their annual Christmas retreat in Newbridge College, Newbridge Co Kildare from Friday 12th to Sunday the 14th of December. This retreat is available for people aged 16-35. This is a donation event and free buses are available if you wish to attend. Online booking is necessary. Right to Water public meeting

Right to Water public meeting this Thursday night Dec 4th, Community Centre, Granard. This will be the only meeting about the proposed water charges in Co Longford or South Cavan prior to the national march in Dublin on December 10th. Sinn Fein spokesperson on Communication, Energy and Natural Resources Micheal Colreavy TD will address the meeting along with Sinn Fein councillors and recent by-election candidates Martin Kenny from Leitrim and Paul Hogan from Westmeath. Everyone welcome.

Ciara Rose dances her way to World Championships

A huge congratulation and well done to Ciara Rose McKeon from Loughan Hill on winning the U12 Leinster championships for Irish Dancing. Ciara Rose has qualified and will represent Longford in the World Irish Dancing Championships in Montreal, Canada on March 30th, 2015. On behalf of your family, friends and everyone in County Longford we say well done and we all wish you the best of luck.
