Visit of Micheál Martin TD

The bye-election for Roscommon and South Leitrim will be held on Friday, 10 October 2014, and with the campaign in full swing, leader of the Fianna Fáil Party, Micheál Martin TD accompanied by their canditate Ivan Connaughton and along with local County Councillor and Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council Paddy O’Rourke canvased in the Carrigallen area on Friday last. This was Mr Martin’s first visit to the area and it brings a total of seven Fianna Fail’s leaders who have campaigned in Carrigallen over the years.

Art Practice

Art practice meeting will take place in Teach Duchais, Drumeela on Saturday, 27 September 2014 at 11:00am. All levels welcome! Bring art materials.

The draw was held on Saturday, 20 September 2014 and the numbers drawn on the night were 14, 26, 29, and 32. There was no Jackpot winner and the four winners of €50 each were Paddy Smith, Antoinette Brennan, Peter Johnston and Eimear Masterson. Next week’s draw will be held in the Masterson’s Bar on 27 September 2014 when the Jackpot will be €2,000. Those in charge on the night will be the St Joseph’s team.

Social Dancing

Social dancing next Saturday night 27 September in the Kilbrackan Arms Hotel, Carrigallen from 10:00pm to 12:30am. Music by Pauric Sweeney. All are welcome!

Old Crafts and Customs of Ireland

On Tuesday, 30 September 2014, there will be an “Old Crafts and Customs of Ireland” film being shown on the large screen in Ballinamore Library at 7:30pm.  This wonderful film was recorded in the counties of Leitrim, Cavan, Roscommon and Fermanagh in the 1990’s.  It features Traditions like Making Mud Turf, Hay, Ploughing and Pattern to the Holy Well; and Trades like Tinsmith, Wheelwright, Millar, Cooper, Blacksmith and Creelmaker.  The film duration is 75 minutes and there is no admission charge. 

Outreach Service

The Mohill Family Support Centre’s Outreach Service will be available in Carrigallen’s Primary Care Centre every Tuesday from 10:00am to 12:30pm.
