Harvest Thanksgiving services Church of Ireland. Holy Trinity Church, Tashinny, Sunday, September 28th at 3pm. St George’s Church, Kenagh, Sunday, October 12th at 3pm. Everyone welcome. Special preacher on each occasion followed by tea.

Alzheimer’s Society

The Longford branch of the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland would like to announce that our church gate collection will be held on Saturday, the 27th and Sunday, 28th of September throughout the county. The money raised will greatly contribute to our continued services in the area. These include a home care service , a respite service, a transport service and a day care facility. All of these services are dedicated to respecting the rights of people with Alzheimer’s disease and supporting their carers. Please give generously. On behalf of ourselves and those who cannot remember, thank you.

Ladies group

The first meeting of the Kenagh and district group will take place in Saint Dominic’s Centre on Wednesday evening, September 24th at 8pm. Meetings will continue throughout the winter months after the summer recess. Any interested ladies from the surrounding areas are very welcome to join.

Social committee

The Kenagh social committee will have their first gathering in Saint Dominic’s Centre on Tuesday night, September 30th at 8pm. All members please take note and new members very welcome, both ladies and gents.

Mother and toddlers

All mothers with babies over six months old and toddlers are invited to attend at the weekly gathering upstairs in the Stickey Fingers creche. Sessions take place every Wednesday morning from 9.30am to 12 noon.

Arthritis Ireland

“Pilates in the chair” classes commence on Wednesday, September 24th at 11.15am in St Mary’s parish hall, Lanesboro for 6 weeks. The cost will be 30 euro per course. For further information contact 086 8160080 or 043 359768.

Athletic Club

Training sessions are every Monday evening from 6.30 to 7.15 at St Dominic’s GAA ground for all juveniles age 9 to 14 and little athletes age 6 to 9. Senior training is from 7.30 to 8.30pm. We also meet on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings to keep up with training progress. The club is affiliated to Longford Athletics Club who will provide training and support. Membership is not parish based, children and adults are welcome to join our club from surrounding areas. If you wish to join come along to St Dominic’s GAA Ground on a Monday evening. Progressive 25

Winners in Kenagh Centre last Thursday night were Annie and Kathleen, Bill and Peter, eleven games, they win 120 euro. Table prizes: Peter and May, Bridie and Packie, win twenty euro each. Raffle: Larry Grouden, Mary Moran (three tickets), Mary Gregg and Peter Gregg, all win ten euro each.

Register of electors

The Draft register of electors 2115/2016 is now being prepared. If you live in county Longford and wish to vote you should check that you are registered correctly to vote. If you have any family members resident in county Longford who will be 18 years or over by 15th February 2015, they may also be registered to vote.
