Tridium of prayer and reparation
Holy Family Church Gowna. The Tridium will commence on Thursday, 25th September with mass and sermon at 7.30pm. Friday 26th exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 9am â€“ 7pm. Mass at 7.30pm, Saturday 27th Station of the Cross at 11am. Mass at 6pm for Mary Bannon and Sacrament of the Sick. The tridium of Prayer and reparation will be conducted by a Franciscan priest Fr Eamon Oâ€™Driscoll. Mass on Sunday at 11am will be celebrated by Bishop Francis Duffey. Hopefully, everyone will make an effort to attend.

Gowna Development Association are seeking a young person to organise youth activities in St Brigidâ€™s Community Centre under CSP. It is for 19.5 hours per week at the minimum wage. Congratulations to the six winners of the Gowna student bursary draw who each won 500 euro to assist with living costs at college. The 3,000 euro bursary was provided by Gowna Community Development Association and there were 34 applicants who were entered into the draw. The winners were Saoirse Oâ€™Reilly, Multimedia at Cavan Institute: Aaron Langtry Education at Marino; Damien Bannon veterinary medicine at UCD; Rosisin Fitzpatrick Law at Black Hall place; Bethany Houldsworth Sport management at Cavan Institute and Jason Langtry Education at St Patrickâ€™s . Best wishes are extended to all Gowna students who were pursuing an educational opportunity at 3rd level.
5K / 10k run/walk
Colmcille GFC have arranged 5K/10K run/ walk on Saturday, 27th September at 3pm. Registration from 1pm at the Cross or on runireland.com. Gowna ladies GFC have arranged their annual second hand clothes collection. If you have any menâ€™s, womenâ€™s or childrens clothes, (clean), paired shoes, handbags, curtains or bed linen, please fill the bag that has been delivered to your home and leave out for collection this Thursday, 25th September or leave at the GAA Club room before Saturday, 27th September. Deepest sympathy is extended to Mrs Noelle Simpson Loch Gowna village on the death of her brother in law, Ben Heaslip, Killymanum, Carrickaboy, Co Cavan which occurred at his residence on Thursday, 18th September. Ben was husband of Noelleâ€™s sister, Olive who passed away on the 3rd September. We also extend sympathy to Benâ€™s sons, Raymond and Ivan, daughters Jackie, Lorraine and Jennifer. His remains were removed from his residence on Saturday to Denn Parish Church and following funeral service at 2pm burial took place in adjoining Churchyard. May Ben and Olive rest in peace.

Granard credit union talent competition open to all talents e.g. music, song, dance, comedy etc. Application forms available in the credit union. Closing date for entries is 25th September. Auditions will be held on 27th September in Granard Credit Union and the Granard CU final will take place on Saturday 4th October. Age limit applies to 10-19 years of age. The Loch Gowna angling festival was held on the shores of Loch Gowna and surrounding lakes from Monday, 25th August to Friday, 29th August. 76 anglers fished this competition sponsored by Timmy Fitpatrick, (Fitzpatricks Tavern).
