On behalf of the school, I would like to thank the parents and the wider community for their generous support of Scoil Samhthann’s fundraiser on June 20th. The event would not have happened without a hard-working committee, namely; Mrs Mary Farrelly. Mrs Katelyn Hosey, Mrs Dolores Reilly and Mrs Deborah Spollen. Great thanks are due to them. Great thanks are due to the families who bought tickets; 2, 5 or multiples thereof. The tickets and posters were printed by Rapid Print. Mrs Marita Blessington, Seagrave did outstanding work designing the tickets and collating the adverts for the race booklet. The event was generously sponsored by many local businesses. Thank you. The evening at Longford Greyhound Stadium was well attended. Many of us had never been there before. The sun shone and we enjoyed ourselves. The manager, Paddy Farrington was professional and courteous, both during the weeks of planning and deadlines and on the night. A lot of work was done on the night by the committee and the staff selling raffle tickets and doing the draws. Thank you to Mrs. Suzanne Tully and her helpers for the wonderful face painting and to Mrs Kathryn Hosey who provided a lovely jar of sweets for “Guess how manyâ€. Insurance prevented us having a Bouncy Castle but Derek didn’t get off that lightly as he was one of the athletes who competed in the very competitive 100m race. The stakes were high and competition was keen! Thank you to Emma Plant who, among other things, suggested this race and organised it with the help of Dolores, twisting some arms, cajoling and encouraging the athletes. Thank you to Mrs Caroline Farrell, Mrs Suzanne Tully, Paul Glennon, Eamon McEvoy, Albert Murphy and Derick Reynolds for providing us with an entertaining race and adding to the money we raised on the night. MÃle, mile buÃochas do gach éinne. - Linda Hughes
